  1. Greetings, I got my New Mexico "carcass tag" yesterday. Its pretty different than an Arizona tag, it's just a sheet of paper. Anybody else get theirs? On the tag is states "this is not a hunting license, the hunter must purchase one separately". When I read the NM regs, it states hunting license are not issued to non-residents. Is there something else I need to do? (i am going to call the NM Game and Fish) Redman
  2. Ernesto, Never apologize for your faith or blessing you give to others, the idiot that took offense will not save you on the day of reckoning, only your faith will. p.s. You've have always been polite and handled personal attacks very well. I don't know you (from what I have read on this board), but what I have read from you makes me believe your a class act. Redman

    changing fleching

Ditto, use a potato peeler to start then remove the nock and soak in acetone for 30 seconds, rinse with H20 and Fletch. Make sure the shaft is clean, if not repeat. I use an Arizona EZ flecther with Blazers Vanes. The entire setup will cost you about $35, but in time you will pay for it over and over. Redman2002

    more aravaipa news

Even though her initial reason for locking the gate was absurd and she is obviously suffering from a mental condition. This has now turned into something else, ALL locked gates. I hunted the area last year and I remember there were other locked gates in the general area. Her gate is blocking probably the most beautiful area, but if she has to unlock her gate, why wouldn't the other land owners who block BLM and state land have to unlock their gates? This will be very interesting, because there are locked gates everywhere blocking BLM and state land. Redman

    arizona draw

Does the Game and Fish actually know when the results will be ready to post, or do they receive a call from SCI Nevada informing the results are posted (since the G&F is not actually posting the results)? Since the Sci-Nevda Company performs the web hosting, I bet they have a contract that states they need to have the results out or on July 29th. When SCI- Nevada has it done they will post it. I'm sure the G&F gets a heads up, but I doubt an officer in the field gets that information timely. It hard for me to think that unless these little birdies are working closely with the web hosting company they know when the website is ready and capable to post the results? Thats not to say the draw has not been performed. Publishing the results is a very different process. Redman

    CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!!!!!

Sounds correct, I have read some studies performed by biologist at CSU using dogs and they found humans wearing scent eliminating clothing just as quickly as those not wearing them. I may be wrong on this point, but I believe deer have a better sense of smell than dogs. I think the best thing a hunter can do to limit his smell is to shower daily, avoid scented deodorant and detergents, oh and keep the wind in favor. Redman
  9. Greetings, I have been wanting to take the hunter education course, but due to the limited offerings by the AZ G&F in Tucson and my own scheduling conflicts, I have not been able to take it. Don't get me wrong, I know the great folks that teach it do it on a volunteer basis so I am not complaining. I am trying to get my ducks in order to hunt in Colorado this fall if the AZ draw proves to be fruitless. Colorado requires hunters education or for archery only (which I plan to do) bowhunting education. Is there any private places that offer a accepted course? I would really like to take just the bowhunting course this year and next year take the rifle course with my son. Redman

    Sunrise 3D shoot

Had a great time at the shoot. It was pretty awsome, top notch. Shot with some really nice people. The wind on Sunday made it tough, but hey its windy during hunting season. Fished a bit, I was upset that people not fishing on the reservation (aka the wife) have to now purchase a "recreation permit". When I asked the warden that checked us, he said " last year we had a lot of people coming out here not fishing reading books, sitting by the lakes and enjoying the outdoors and not purchasing a permit" I almost fell over after he said that, I replied with, isn't that what your supposed to do, enjoy the outdoors? Everything has a price tag now, even if the wife who wouldn't touch a fish for anything wants to sit with me and my 9 and 1.5 year old sons while we fish. I was reminded why I purchase a hunt and fish combo license each year, so I can take my wife and kids to a state lake and they can sit and enjoy the outdoors for FREE!! (at least for now). Redman

  12. Greetings, I drew a NM unit 23 tag for mule deer (sorry for those who did not get drawn in NM) and I am very excited to go hunt in a place I have never before, in fact I have never killed a mule deer. Can anybody please point me in the a direction to begin my search of where to hunt. Major roads or landmarks? I live in Tucson (not that it matter much) Any information would be helpful and greatly appreciated. Redman
  13. While visiting another website, some posters have reported that thier credit card has been hit by NM G&F? Anybody here have this happen? Not me. Redman

Here a question if anybody wants to answer, how do you normally locate water holes that hold water in the summer off the beaten path? Topo map? I know of some, but would really like to find others. Redman

    Whisker Biscuit and Quikspin Vanes

Probably not what you want to hear, but I have been using Blazer vanes and have not had any problems with them showing wear from the Biscuit. I had thought Blazer and Quickspins were similar? Do you fletch your own arrows? I so I know Blazer will send some for free to try if you ask. Redman
  21. Yeah I heard about that. I guess a Mexican Military landed next to a tanker in Arivaca and starting asking the driver questions, the driver said something to the effect "I don't have to tell you anything", they then flew off and the driver called and I guess the boarder patrol said they already knew. We should have shot it down. On the human side its hard not to feel sorry for the people, but that country is so corrupt the people should revolt. There is no reason for Mexico to be a 3rd world country with its natural resources. Redman

I'm in the same boat, I wish the G&F would adapt the modified on-line hunter education course like many other states have. Redman

    2005 Fall Regs

I think the hunt fees are a joke. A bull tag for non-residents is only $405. With no quota for non-residents, I believe AZ residents are going to get put put. What happened to the proposal of different hunt fees for regular and quality hunts? Good luck everybody. Redman
  24. Greetings, I am going to purchase a new bow. I currently shoot a PSE which I bought used, and it's time to retire it, its 5-7 years old. I have been looking at PSE, AR, and Hoyt. I can spend around $600 ( I would like to get the bow, sight, and rest) Please help me decide (but please provide reasons.. Like I had a Hoyt, but found the AR to be better because....etc... not just PSE sucks..etc.) I like the fact PSE and AR can be serviced here and the folks at PSE have for the been good to me. Redman
  25. Anybody know what is the date the AZ hunt regs are published? Redman
