salt and feed no more in 2009

Here's the response I got from Game and Fish regarding the email I sent opposing the proposed rule change... Hello, Thank you for your comment. On Friday, the Department was given permission to begin the official rulemaking process. The Department anticipates filing a Notice of Docket Opening and a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking with the Secretary of States office. The notices are published in the Arizona Administrative Register and, upon publication in the Register, the 30 day public comment period will begin. If you like, I can add either your e-mail (for an e-mail notification) or your mailing address (for a postcard notification) to our notification list so that you will be notified of the proposed rulemaking. Then you may read the actual proposed amendments to the rule and comment on the proposed language. Either way, this comment will be held for review by the Department. Thank you again. Sincerely, Celeste Cook Celeste Cook Rules and Risk Unit Arizona Game and Fish Department 5000 W. 34A success

I got to hunt this year with a "leftover" tag in 34A this year. It was my first hunt down south, and got down there a couple of times to scout. Went down with a buddy of mine that I haven't hunted with in a long time. Thursday afternoon we glassed up a monster...real heavy, outside his ears. He was bedded and got to watch him till dark...thinking we were going to have a shot at him on opening day. However, he had other plans...we looked for that buck for Friday, Sat, and Sunday...seeing lots of smaller bucks, endless does..but never him. I glassed this buck up Sunday night and decided if I got the chance, I would go after him Monday. My buddy glassed him up as he bedded and I couldn't resist. It's my first Coues and he's not a trophy by most standards, but he is to me.

    Casa Grande Meeting

I just emailed the 4 listed above... I just don't get AZGFD...it seems they are always referring to the survey we all filled out a couple of years ago...that Arizona hunters want quantity of hunts versus quality of hunts...yet I've never been able to find one person that wants that. You should've seen the zoo in 22 for the past month during the elk hunts! We'd better get on this...next thing they'll want to do is take your scope off your rifle and only allow 4 power binoculars. Maybe it's too late, I don't know....

    7mm MAG

I shoot a 7mm Rem mag....700 BDL...and had used it as my antelope gun shooting 139 BTSP Interlocks from Hornady in it and the gun loved 'em. 3 goats @ 100 to 460 and they definetly did the trick. I used that same setup for a Colorado hunt and shot a muley at 589...but lacked the knockdown power. I just switched to the Federal Premium Vital shock Barnes Triple shock in 160 and have had really good results at paper. Good luck to you..I'm hoping I've found a bullet that is a little more versatile..I hate switching ammo.

    34A question

Hey...just checking to see how your hunt went. I have a 34A Nov 28th tag. I've been down there 3-4 times scouting...it all looks sooo good, hard to know where to begin. I'm hoping that most the hunters blow off the hunt with the economy and all....ya i know, fat chance...but I can always hope. I had taken a look at the 143 road and some of the areas just as you get back onto Nat forest the second time...thought that was plan A...maybe I should re-evaluate...how was it on your hunt? Thanks
