I have a slik 500dx (excellent legs best bang for your buck) with a manfrotto 128 head on it, very stable and not too heavy either. we have shot with it close and far and in coues country where you cant find a flat spot it is needed to have one, I can think of lots of coues we have taken that wouldn't have been possible without that set up. we also shoot heavy rifles and it works great. when I come across some extra cash I will be getting another tripod in carbon like rossisliders

3 months we have done euros that way. I personally wouldn't do it any less but all of ours have been fine after 3 months

I called western precision several times and left messages because I've heard nothing but great things about them. they didn't answer or return one of my calls so I had decided to go a different route only reason being if someone had one of my rifles and didn't answer or return my calls id be sick to my stomach, axis works will be finishing mine up after the holidays

must have been a pro shop guy that didn't want to deal with putting them on, yes they do have gains or else the company's wouldn't waste their time or money putting them on. I have tested myself and yes sometimes it doesn't gain you anything if you don't put them in the correct spots but they should've been put back where the factory installs them

I would have it just me and a friend or another family member. like others have said here you can focus on the hunt more (more hunting =success kill or no kill) if im away from my family i want to make sure i get it done or died trying and not just out there doing nothing
