elkaholic replied to rthrbhntng's topic in The Campfire
THANK YOU - this is what we need - orginizations coming forward and stating an issue of importance - to US. then we can not wonder later when something is passed and we ask- why didn't I know about this. MY thanks to the AES for bringing this to my attention -
wouldnt a member or supportor azsfw fill or be eligible for the first 3 postions as written ?
-
BPJ we know your perspective - pull the cart while the rest must be cheering you on - you still seem to be standing alone well JOHN - how does the ADA stand on any of these issues- since you are the president - we need to start knowing which views are yours and which are that of the ADA - so we dont get confused .
-
yep we are just seeing what yrs of work the sfw influence has really done - 2072 is a prime example of what they wanted to accomplish - it's easy to see this commission review board as a way of - eventually controling the G&F commisssion - at least we see these orgs comin at us - not sneaking in behind us while they know we've finally been lulled into a state of trust .
-
well how can we make the voice we've show this past week, be heard even louder and see what we can do to reverse this unneeded board before they set up exactly whom they-(azsfw ) want in control of the g&f commission. Here agin we all need to see this-commission reveiw board - is as bad as 2072 and what we can do to put it to an end to something azsfw has forced thru .
-
did we miss this one too- no limit on magizine capacity http://www.azleg.gov/DocumentsForBill.asp?Bill_Number=HB2640&Session_ID=107

Hi Kent; You seem to know your way around the internet. You can review where the candidates come from, how they get interviewed and how long they serve. When you say SFW, are you referring to Utah, or the AZSFW?.... No one can control the board... sorry to take that bit of conspiracy away...BPJ we need to take a better look into this guys Commission appointment recommendation board, which is made up of a small group of hunting organizations and one rancher, plus one member of the public. The purpose is to interview Game and Fish Commission candidates and make 2-5 recommendations to the Governor and she is to pick from among them. who picks these people on the review board ?- how long are they on the board ? heres there recommendations for this round: http://www.azgfd.gov/govCommBoard/docum ... ts2011.pdf we missed this one guys !-- 2010: azsfw legislation recommended SB 1200 Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board – Passage of SB 1200 over the objections of Arizona Game & Fish Commission (3-2 vote), Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife, Arizona Audubon, and Arizona Wildlife Federation to provide certainty that sportsmen have a voice in the future selection of game and fish commissioners HB 2619 Game & Fish Commission Process Bill - Successfully passed bill out of House of Representatives and Senate Natural Resource Committee. President Burns refused to bring the bill to the floor so we are currently working with Governor Brewer’s office to draft an Executive Order to define process including dates, etc.\ its too late for this but we missed this one - how can we get it removed in reguards to the commission review board bill - this was G&F responce: The Arizona Game and Fish Commission today urgently asks the public in joining them in opposition to Senate Bill 1200, proposed legislation creating a new appointment recommendation board that would evaluate and control which candidates for commission vacancies the governor could select. SB 1200 is scheduled to be debated tomorrow and voted on this week in the state senate. The commission asks people to immediately contact their state senator in opposition to SB 1200 and let them know that House Bill 2619 is a much better solution to an open and fair commission appointment process. Contact your senator now by following this link. The commission expressed concern that SB 1200, if passed by the Arizona Legislature, could threaten the current commission system by granting greater influence to a select group while weakening the public’s voice in wildlife management. “This legislation would lead to, and is intended to lead to, a commission made up entirely of people with similar views, similar backgrounds and similar intentions,” said current commission chair Jennifer Martin from Phoenix. “If this bill passes, and the majority of our stakeholders are disenfranchised and most Arizonans are left out, our broad support base that’s always waiting in the wings to protect the commission system, if necessary, will disintegrate.” does this smell of sfw to you!? drafted by azsfw and gilstrap ends up as board member ??

Still waiting patiently = for anyone of the board/directors of azsfw or azsfwc to come on here and make some kinda statement heard enough from john - so let them speak for themselves - i sure your bp's are adding up nicely since you have so much respect for these people maybe you can convience them to speak for themselves still waiting for that list of member/ directors on the board ! Thank you Mr. Woodhouse for your imput on this subject - always nice to clear things up that were misspoken! seems to happen often on this topic. what district do you live in anyway ? lol
-
well TBH - I'm sorry it happened. I'm sure it happens in other states also and not just by Arizonians! It does show disrespect-- -littering - drinking- offroading -while hunting - the majority of us do not like or tolerate either. It would be nice to know of which groups you speak and where this desecration took place - Did you report it to the NMDGF ?! get license #'s- you should have reported it immediatly!

just so we all know - i had to look it up The Wildlife Conservation Council (WCC), previously a separate C-3 organization, merged with AZSFWC in 2010 and is now a standing committee of AZSFWC known as the Wildlife Conservation Council Committee. The WCC serves as an umbrella organization for other wildlife and sportsmen's organizations to communicate and work together collaboratively on important issues.. the who's who of who's doing what to help whom

We pay dues to the AZSFWC... a different organization totally. As a group of board members, there is no way that I can speak for them. would you please list the board/director members of azsfwc-- on the 09 tax returns it shows 5 of the board members of azfwc are also board/director members of azsfw. unless people and titles have changed the majority hold positions on both boards

dont know about money but this pretty much summs it up as far as swf is concernerd copied from another site dicussion ;; Also, anyone that thinks the AZ SFW offspring is not marching to Don's tunes is not paying attention. UT SFW provides the seed money and the playbook for how to finance your non-profit using proceeds from auction/lottery of the public's primo big game tags. The SFW playbook is simple enough. Define the enemy as overwhelming and explain the old way of having Joe SixPack finance battles with the enemy and restore/expand the herds does not work. Often, the F&G is unable (or is illegal) to take on the political fight. Budgets for animals gets put near the back of the line after prisons, schools, etc. This new approach takes big money. No one is handing out big money on the street corner. Big Game tags, however, are a license to print money with a little creative hocus pocus. Primo tags are worth more to Richie Rich than the face value the state collects when awards the same tag through a lottery. Set up local chapters but do not give them democracy. They serve at your pleasure and they do not vote on policy nor the leadership at HQ. Do not ask for just any tags when is time. Get the tags from the non-resident allotment (you know, those suckers can not vote a politician out of office) so the politician is creating surplus money without passing a tax or cutting anyone else's departmental budget. Residents tend to smile when the non-resident hunter gets the shapt. Is silly since we are all non-residents in every state but one. Of course, Joe SixPack will now have fewer tags in the lottery but just leaving a couple of sheep tags in the lottery is enough to keep Joe applying. Set up the expo. Award subcontracts to allies and those you want to shut up that are questioning the actions. Folks are quick to figure out which side of the bread slice is buttered. Outfitters love the idea Richie Rich got a tag that last year went to Joe SixPack. Richie hires an outfitter. Outfitter likes this. Donations are made to the organization. You have big money now the expo is underway. Maybe get a couple of big donors to chip in to your "seed money" to really get the ball rolling. What if the herds do not grow. Say the deer herds in Utah. No problem. You mumble a bit and keep your tags. What if the herd grow. Say the elk in Utah. Well, then, time to fire up the PR machine! Start spreading favors at the state capitol building. Grow your influence over how budgets are set for F&G. This growing influence shuts up the leadership bureacrats at F&G. Get your slate of commissioners on the Wildlife Board. You can now push through legislation that you write and hand off to your pet senator. The wildlife board will not raise a stink. The F&G will not publicly raise a stink. Easy breezy. Next, create tons of transferable landowner tags. The outfitters will grease the skids for that tactic. Got to have even more tags for Richie Rich so he can hire outfitters at top dollar. The above playbook is brilliant. Most of us could be handed the playbook and screw it up 99 out of 100 attempts, though. The concept of a new breed of organization that can get into messy political fights on behalf of Joe SixPack and state F&G is worthwhile, in my opinion. The execution of the playbook has become very, very messy. Trust has been broken. Promises were quickly made during the power-building phase but slowly delivered upon. Who can forget the delay in financial reporting and Expo tag odds? Most of us agree SFW has shot itself and its offspring in the foot.

isn't the board controled by votes- so if say 3 out of 5 are members of a certain group - the majority rules right !- it is rather simple -said group would control the board . even i can understand that !

I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy the show - ethical type posts can be quite entertaining. It might be easier if you just search the archives for these same type discussions - but I'll get the popcorn popper ready - just in case! i prefer shots less than 40 with 50 as my limit. If at all possible 25 or less is best for me!
