kinda like this group - singular organization has seen the money raised by this kinda tag - they want their share and want all their bills to be paid also - BS
-
would be nice to see a list of what non-profit organizations actually qualify for these tags !! ??? The qualified organization shall first apply the proceeds from the resale by auction and raffle of the rights to tags to cover all costs associated with the annual sportsmen exposition in this state and any county chapter banquets at which rights to tags are auctioned or raffled. The qualified organization shall apply the remaining proceeds from the resale by auction and raffle of the rights to tags in this state for programs to achieve any of the following purposes, including the qualified organization's costs of administration: what money will be left - ????? heres another take - wake up call 6. "Qualified organization" means an organization that is qualified pursuant to section 501©(3) of the internal revenue code and that meets all of the following conditions: The only group that qualifies for this is the Sportsman for Wildlife and that is it! It was written by and for the Sportsman for Wildlife (Gilstrap and Jerry Weiers to be exact) so you see if this goes through it will tie the hands of all other organizations in this state. They do not tell you the entire story and what that story is is this—if this goes forward we will have a heck of a time with private land owners—the private land owners will fight this and they will have their land owner tags in our state—why? Because it opens the door for a fight from the land owners in this state and they are a lot stronger than all of us sportsman put together. H. The qualified organization shall first apply the proceeds from the resale by auction and raffle of the rights to tags to cover all costs associated with the annual sportsmen exposition in this state and any county chapter banquets at which rights to tags are auctioned or raffled. The qualified organization shall apply the remaining proceeds from the resale by auction and raffle of the rights to tags in this state for programs to achieve any of the following purposes, including the qualified organization's costs of administration:This means that this group will have to pay for an Annual Sportsman Expo with the money they generate from the tags—do you know how much this would cost? It would pretty much eat up any and all monies that are generated right there. And why do we need a sportsman expo when we already have one each year?

Have you ever missed a shot because of a steep angle?
elkaholic replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
well guys it 's not always related to taking shots with a rifle - I'm an avid archery hunter - I 've taken lots of javelina and a few elk - but never a deer . Now i' practice a lot and concider myself a good archer. I'm good- out distances of 40-50 yrds . I practice all the time on my back yard. this happened to me in wisc. aa long time ago ' - I had achance to go deer huntin - archery Now I've never hunted out of an elevated tree stand - never need to - while hunting in Az. the area was baited so- it was a sure thing - I had shot a few times in my cousins back (from the ground) i was ready. A nice little 3x3 came in - I'm 20 feet up this big tree in a great stand - How easy is this gonna be- I'm think -first deer - first shot - I'm done . -I took my time line up the pin - he can't be 25 yrds away shot right over his back - I'm like no way - i had him - he runs off. Ten minutes later , here comes agin -same spot - ok now way I'm missing agin - shoot- same thing right over his back . Now i'm down to my last arrow - here he comes for the third time a little farther out.- you guessed it - missed agin . I watch him run away - I'm out of arrows , so i get down collect my arrows and climb back up in the tree. he never came back - I'm totally bummed out - how did i miss this guy 3 times . I know the bow is sighted in - I had practiced - so I set get back to my cousins house - take 3 shots at 25-30 -40 yrds- dead-on . i'm like no way . so i set-up the target by the house - ,climb up on the roof and try it agin - i shoot over the target every shot - i get back up - aim for the bottom of the target and sink the shot dead center - i was easily missing by one foot! I know since then that one should never forget to allow for the angle of the shot. hunting with a rifle is no different! Gary -
ok - heres the latest - seller -Dr. Ken Howell, author of the 1987 "Handloader's Manual of Cartridge Conversions" He's 90 in a wheel chair and would like to sell some of his things - he's living in quemado N.M. i had asked for some idea of what he'd like to get for the big eyes - he answered -half-way between felonious and federal heres his comment on the price of these rare optics---- A modern replica is going for $2,000, I'm told. Not sure whether it comes with the same fancy fitted steel military case, but I assume that the tripod comes with it. A friend tried to find (but couldn't) an original Zeiss like mine on-line. He found an American-made Navy version at something between $6,300 and $6,500 — with or without the fitted steel case? I don't know. That's what I meant by "half-way between felonious and federal," though I'd assume that the Navy version originally cost the gov a lot more than it'd ever bring as milsurp. , anyone interested i can pass along info or get you in contact with him! Gary

last couple seasons - weather always plays a key role - we all know, cold - windy -rainy weather means they should be hold up in the draws / caves etc , keeping warm - so we are looking in all the nooks and crannies hoping to see or kick 'm out - after several hrs - we are about to give -up- decide to look at the big hill in the area - guess what - there they are !-right on the very top ,so even piggys can do the unexpected! keep the meat as clean as possible - take an extra gamebag!
-
A trapper I knew would clean/wash the entire Javelina with a strong soap to get rid of the skunky oil before skinning it. I went one better last year and took a fresh killed Javi to the self serve car wash and degreased it and power washed it before skinning it.... The meat really tasted good , even grilled the backstraps were great! I know now to carry some automotive degreaser and 5 gallons of water to wash them up before skinning! guess ya learn what you are taught- i learned the musky oily smell comes off with the hide - why would i waste time washing it! if you spent 5 minutes just keeping your hands and knife clean - you'd get the same results -

"If everyone will still be just as happy for you then why does it bother you if someone wants to post a +? It has nothing to do with someone being shy but you certainly have the right to your opinion. The score of an animal never has meant crap to me but I don't condem those who thrive on it. What the he!! makes the difference what someone wants to post?" +1 i agree - what difference does it make - unless its an official report for the book - I can call it anything i want mines a 120 class buck
