  1. I was only the guy carring the pack / camp cook /glasser - the hunt was always my son's decisions - what time to get up - which way to go - where /when to glass-- most every detail of the hunt itself. it's his tag - if he wants to wait and pass on bucks the first few days - I say nothing -he passed a nice 70 class little basket 3 point only to go home with no deer tagged. now he knows why I didn't always come home with a deer - I usually pass on small/ young deer - hate the sinewy fibers of undeveloped muscle on those spikes / less meat for freezer- usually made for chewy burger it seems to prepare them for a better life and the ups and downs of the decisions one makes along the way

    Home Burglarized: Hunting Gear Stolen

from my little experience -- most likely someone from the neighborhood whom has noticed to loading / unloading hunting stuff. it's easy to see someone loading up for a camping/ hunting / trip - not so much as to know what you have - but know you have it . I'm over carefull these days when loading guns / hunting gear etc. especially-- never the night before hunt to have it stolen ? burglarized from your home sucks! was a lot more taken or just the hunting gear ? no specifics - just askin thanks for the heads-up - just never know where it'll show or even if it will Bummer!

    Solo elk hunting

bottom line - besides all the "HUNT" if you are not prepared to take care of the meat in the field - especially solo - do not hunt so far off a road- that it makes the task harder than it should be ! packing out a elk - even a mile by yourself can be an all day event.- after dark = an all nighter trophy's are not worth a spoiled elk carcass! know your limits - be prepared make a clean kill if possible with the best shot placement = get'm close i'll still hunt and stalk - chase bugles all morning and afternoon but come late afternoon i'm setting water or a traveled trail less than a mile from camp-- especially if i'm alone Enjoy your hunts - tag an elk and take care of the meat good luck to you all ! hunting alone has advantages and disadvantages - have fun - hunt smart

so you drew my first choice -- lots of big bulls - just better hope it's a dry season as far as weather cuz when 5bs gets wet, it can get bad in a hurry one yr we spent more time off the main roads than on them and the side stuff was walk in only hope for a cold snap - great tag - good luck

    Solo elk hunting

only real thing I didn't like about solo was in camp time - especially after dark no sceeerd or paranoid or lonely -- it's just time seems to go so slow - gets dark early - I never have or had a fire I would sometimes camp in easy walkin distance of other hunters camps- if possible - make a social call if needed to make sure we weren't steppin on each other while hunting do not take hunting solo to lightly - I hope all have a safe successful hunt younger age - never gave it a second thought - getting a little more gray - know things can sometimes go wrong and nice to know help is around if needed

Cherry Creek Road FR 203 Permanent Closure

From my information - there were a total of 12 official objections to the Tonto Management Travel Plan I know of 3 I sent in myself so at least 9 others took the time to actually object to any road closures or whatever to the final proposed travel Map

    Scope Puked

just a note - avoid used Shepherd scopes- no warranty from Shepherd as my used scope has flaws in the lense coating - spots quoted 250- 300 to fix i mentioned warranties from bushnell and vortex We have been designing scopes for other companies for 15 years. I can tell you that vortex scopes are made in factory number 5 in the Phillipines and cost $187.00US in a box out the door to vortex. Your paying $1300.00 for that scope here. If we had our scopes made in japan, or tiawan or china we would have the same warranty. Fact is when you buy those brands your sending jobs to those countries. Sure the warranty sounds great until you realize your buying 6 of them up front. The only company besides our in the US that can make thier own optics and products is Luepold, and they have the same warranty as us. Our profit margins are 1/5th of thos outsourcing guys, but if you buy a scope from us we will make sure it yours and working for life. Its part of the problem with this whole industry, we make all our optics and employee real technicians who we weducate and traing to have good paying jobs. We sell our scopes for a much more resonable price than anyone, with american glass and metals made by a japanese watch company. We considered putting our proces up as high as these guys getting scopes made in the phillipines and china and making it a lifetime warranty but then that would mean only people with a lot of money can afford them. The thing is that we have been making quality scopes that are made to last, our scopes have the highest resale value of any scope in the world, that means quality. The great thing about this nations is everyone can choose to buy american or choose to buy foriegn. We want to give people a reason to get back to buying american. I am sorry we cannot provide the warranty you would like but we are trying to make a great product. That's our deal for our customers, and they get no Chinese crap and get to support American small business from leupold -- With the Leupold Gold Ring Full Lifetime Guarantee, if your Leupold product doesn’t perform as promised, we will repair or replace it for free, whether you are the original owner or not—forever (excludes electronic components). You don’t need proof of ownership. Or a warranty card. I'm like where they there - yep dad - had him in my sights but dad - he was smaller than the doe's he was 11 then
