Congrats to your family and friends on a great January. Man what's up with passing a 90" buck with your bow? Just kidding way to have patience and hold out. I hope your no brainer comes your way in August. Good Luck. -

Besides getting a bow, I would go look for deer in January and go after them. On a good day you should be able to make 2 to 4 stalks on mule deer they seem to be out and moving for large portions of the day. In august find water with good sign and sit as long as you possibly can. It took me four years to get my first bow kill then they started adding up a lot quicker it can be fun once you get the hang of things and slow down.

Talking to the wife tonight about her 1st pig tag that is coming up and she says she will probably not go due to the fact that she will be four months pregnant. I told her she would be fine she will either be shooting a 223 or a 243 and the kick and noise aint bad. Has anybody had their pregnant wife shoot a rifle or going hunting? Is this a bad idea on my part?

Thanks for the input. I am not worried about the hiking. It would not be all that bad walking the ridges and I would pack the gun and gear. It is the percussion she is concerned about, I might have to ask her doc i guess. She wanted to go until the pregnancy came about. We will see. Congrats TJ on that many years together that is awesome.

I decided to go look for pigs this morning before work in an area I had seen some early in the week. I only had 2 hours so I had planned on just glassing with a little hiking. I got to my first spot and started glassing. I was about 5 minutes into it when I caught movement to my left. I look and it is a buck with his nose to the ground trotting my way. I watch him closing the distance fast and decide I better grab some cover. I ranged ahead of him where I thought he would pass and get a marker at 50 yards and a marker at 70 yards. The buck walks between the markers and I put my 60 on him and stop him. He ran about 100 yards and bedded down. He never got back up. It all happened fast and I could not help but harvesting him. Short and sweet it was fun.
