I just had these guys do some repair on my pop up where the original stitching was coming apart and extend the rain fly around the outside. I haven't had it in the field yet but it seems like quality work. The price was very reasonable. http://www.phoenixtent.com/

That's what I don't agree with. If there's a gate and you don't want me on the road then lock the gate that's already their. With that said- I try to obey the road closures except the ones I just don't agree with. I believe the road closure excuse was to prevent further destruction of the habitat and yet they just graded a closed road. On the camping side of it I would probably follow the rules just because I don't want to spend all the time it takes to set up the wall tent to be told to take it down and move. Last archery season, we had just finished setting the tent up when forest service pulled in and pulled out her map and said good news, you're in a designated camping spot so I don't have to make you move. When did they start with designated camping spots? I thought that camping was allowed throughout the forest. It was motorized travel or parking within 30 feet of the road that was the issue.

Not in elk country but for you desert deer hunters this is what my front yard looked like this morning. We got hammered last night with 2 1/2-3 inches in a very short time.

It depends on the circumstances. My experience with a call is if a buck has does he likely won't respond. The ones I have called were the ones with their noses to the ground smelling out a girlfriend. If you can find one of those you can often call them into bow range. They are pretty stupid during the rut. As to stopping them....I have seen AZSlim hit a call and deer almost turn inside out stopping. It works well sometimes.

In the market for a new crappie light. My old light was a car headlamp encased in styrofoam. It was heavy on the battery but did a decent job. I started looking and saw there are dozens of different types of lights out there. And the price of some of them were a $100+. Anyone have a suggestion on a decent light that won't break you? Also, green or white light? LED or flourescent? I have a friend that swears by the green but I have zero experience with them.

I can't see it well but it looks like burrobrush. If it is roundup won't kill it. We used to use diuron to keep it off of the ditchbanks. Is this it? http://kenneturner.com/2011/11/10/do-you-know-your-burroweed-vs-burro-brush/

same size tires all the way around on rhino
creed replied to Antler assassin's topic in The Campfire
Checked around last time I bought tires and ended up with Discount. I wanted a 6 ply with aggressive tread and they had them for a better price than anyone else. As to different size tires......thinking about buying a new 570 Ranger. The length will fit in the bed of my pickup but with the wide tires on the back I have only an inch of clearance. I was wondering about doing something similar......could I put a smaller tire on the back without screwing up gear ratios, etc when it was in 4x4. I am thinking if the tire diameter was the same there should be no issues. -
Saw lots of this in 5BS last year. I hunted from camp on foot and had guys come drivng by me 2 miles from the closest open road. Why obey the rules when nobody else does? Guess I do because that's how I am. I did have a buddy tell me that they got checked in 5A by a ranger with a rangefinder and an attitude. He gave them a lot of grief and cited them because they were more than 30 feet from the road.

Thanks for the input and advice. Maybe I'm going to try a combination of green and white lights just to see how that works. I have always used white but see more guys going with the green.

I think as bowhunters we all get caught where we can't use a rangefinder to judge distance. I am not too good at it but what I do is use 20 yard increments. I can judge 20 yards fairly well so if I double that it equals to 40 yards, etc. I can get out to 50-60 yds like this but anything beyond is just a guess. I also use objects on the ground, rock, bush or tree instead of the animal itself since I tend to underestimate distance if I look at the animal. Any tips on judging distance in hunting situations?

Looks like Dept personnel should learn what they are talking about before they give out info. Conflicting information is not good especially when it concerns a government agency and law enforcement issues.

it tells you in the notes the boundaries and how to obtain access to certain parts of the unit. ...ie., 5BN is all of 5BN and so on. if it's limited op then the notes will give boundaries. dept. employee not knowing or explaining properly. James He was told twice now from both Flagstaff and Phoenix offices that Hopi hunts are restricted to Indian lands regardless of what unit they are in. Example is #3820. It is a 5BN hunt but is restricted to Hopi lands only. I was told when I inquired about it that if you drew that tag it would be good for all lands within that hunt unit. I know of some people that have taken illegal animals that were under the assumption that it was good unit wide. Fully aware of the LO hunts. I have been lucky enough to have drawn a couple of them.

I called the G&F a few years back when leftover Hopi hunts were available for the first time. They told me they were unit wide if you could get one. A friend called yesterday and was told they were now restricted to Hopi lands. Does anyone know if this is true or is it another case of Dept employees not knowing what they are talking about?

Lots of stuff out there but here is a video from Fox News in 2013 that gives a pretty good look at what it MAY mean. There are many skeptics but one thing I think that nearly everyone can agree to is that this world cannot continue on the path it is on without something major coming down. Make your own decision. I for one think that time is short. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/10/16/is-cosmos-telling-us-end-is-near/

Just happened to awaken at 4:30 this morning and stepped outside to watch. Pretty awesome! Lots of potential biblical significance to the 4 blood moons all falling on Jewish feasts. One more to go!

Thanks guys. Likely will give him a call.

Any recommendations for a west valley mechanic? Pulling my dad's old boat out of mothballs and looking for someone who can give it a good going over.

A friend just sent me a text and said he swore they were hitting cards. I don't show anything but he insisted it is for real. Maybe??? He is too big for me to whip if he is lying.
-
He is 6'2" and 280. A former high school champion wrestler but I think two or three of us could take him.

He just sent me another text and told me that it was a screwup on his part. I agree. I apologize profusely. I am not one to start nasty rumors.

It is a funny video but when you are the drunk and realize the things you have done the next day it is not so funny. Sorry for putting a serious note on an otherwise funny video. I did have to LOL.

No fun when you are the alcoholic screwing your family over. Been sober for nearly 35 years.
