If you get to the place that you want to put this up for sale I may be interested. I don't have the glass you are looking for but can maybe sell one of my rifles for the cash if you get to the point you are willing to sell. I am leaving for a week long hunt so next week would be the earliest I would be able to do anything anyway.

    Anybody see this?

Did this come up at the commission meeting this weekend? I couldn't attend or watch online due to family issues but was wondering if the Customer Portal Project is the same thing or something different. It was on the agenda for discussion. Not sure how I feel about this.
  3. So I stopped in at Wal Mart today to pick up a 2015 archery tag. The guy working the counter told me that there would be no archery deer tags sold until January. Didn't we go through this same thing last year? Just wondering if it is Wal Mart or if there is some truth to it. Anyone else have problems getting a 15 tag?

    2015 archery deer tags

I called the Phoenix office and spoke with a lady in the license department. She told me that in regards to tags as soon as the vendor gets them they can sell them and they should have them. I didn't ask about licenses because I hold a lifetime license. Our local Wal Mart is not known for knowledgeable people working in the sporting good dept.

    2015 archery deer tags

I wasn't aware you could buy tags online. I knew about licenses but not tags. Is that something new? I had to drive up there last year and get it since I was hunting the first of the year.

    Black Widows

As a farmer I killed bugs as part of my job for nearly 30 years. I will guarantee that you will not have a spider for at least 2 months and longer if you use this stuff. Put it in a pump up hand sprayer and it is liquid death to spiders and nearly every other kind of bug. And it is fairly notoxic to mammals. http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/cyper-wp-p-228.html?zmam=70093104&zmas=1&zmac=2&zmap=228&gclid=CMD6ypns5cECFRRffgodTAIAvQ

    Rain is coming!

Just read the NWS forecast for this coming week. They are calling for some heavy prolonged rain starting late Friday/Saturday into Tuesday for most of the state. Last year was a slophole where I hunted. I am expecting the same this year. Should make it an interesting hunt! Bring the chains, shovels and a good jack. Learned last year that they are a must!

    Rain is coming!

The weather forecast discussion I read this morning said the atmospheric moisture was going to reach record proportions for this time of year. My concern is national forest road closures. They can and will do it. I spoke with the Coconino NFS office this morning. They are not at this time planning any closures but if the forecasted amount of rain happens they aren't ruling it out either. I've gotta hunt!
  14. I don't need a pair of 15's but I do want to add them to my already good box of optics. I am kind of up in the air about which brand to buy. My wife owns a pair of the Kaibab's. They are decent glass. I have considered a pair of the old SLC's but to be honest I don't think they are that much better. Has anyone had any experience with the Minox 15x56's? I am also considering the Zeiss 15's. I could break down and buy the new Swaro's but can't justify the cost when I already own Nikon Premier 10x42's and a Zeiss 85mm spotter. Any thoughts? I get almost to the point of pulling the trigger on a pair of 15's but at the last minute think that maybe there is better glass for the money. It is hard to tell which is the best by comparing them side by side at Cabela's.

    RAIN!!!!!!!

from the National Weather Service forecast discussion for this upcoming weekend .IT APPEARS MORE-AND-MORE LIKELY THAT A SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL EVENT COULD DEVELOP OVER AZ...WITH TEMPS FALLING WELL BELOW NORMAL...WHICH IS VERY UNUSUAL IN MID-LATE AUGUST. THUS...HAVE RAISED POPS ACROSS THE BOARD DURING THIS PERIOD.

Don't know what county you guys let your dogs run but Maricopa County has a leash law. Also have been told by LEO's that if you are having trouble with dogs destroying property or harrassing livestock to shoot them. http://scottsdalecanineacademy.com/maricopa-county-leash-laws/
  17. Unfortunately whether we like it or not politics affects every facet of our lives including hunting. This country is in the shape it is in right now because of political apathy.
  18. What Kent said. I read so much stuff on the boards that isn't really relevant to so much of what guys are concerned with. Perfect bullet holes, bareshaft tuned to identical point of impact which if spine isn't right that ain't going to happen, broadheads and field points hitting the same out to a hundred yards, etc. All of that stuff is good but if your spine is off it is going to make some of that impossible. Do like he said and walk back tune it and call it good. More often than not it will shoot bullet holes, bareshaft tune and shoot better than the shooter is capable of shooting. So much unnecessary emphasis is put on tuning and not enough on shooting. A tuned bow is a must but not to the point of obsessing about whether you have perfect arrow flight at 10 feet. Archery is supposed to be fun.

    Desert Recluse

Glad it turned out ok. Spider bites are nothing to fool around with. I had a black house spider bite me on the back of the hand and it took a year for it to fully heal. Nasty suckers !

    Draw results

27 isn't the only area that has seen a dramatic decrease in mule deer. The lower desert units are unbelievably bad in areas that once held good numbers of quality bucks. The drought gets the most blame but predators are a big problem. For the life of me I don't understand why the Dept doesn't lower permit numbers. It is the one area that they control. I have heard all the rhetoric how one buck can breed so many does and that lowering of permits will do nothing. Aerial gunning of coyotes during fawning is something else I would like to see but the politically correct crowd in the Dept isn't going to allow that to happen. Having said all of that I drew a 44A general rifle tag. First rifle tag I have had since about 1995. Not even sure I can even hit the target anymore.

    Broadheads

I am not anti-mechanical in the least. The deer in my avatar was killed with a mechanical. If I have a fixed blade broadhead that will shoot as accurately as any mech and take out the possibility of mechanical failure than that is what I am going to shoot. If mechs work for you then shoot them.

    Broadheads

125 grain Slick Trick! As good as they come. If I could post pics from my stone age cell phone to a computer I could show you some 60yd 5 arrow groups that measure 3 1/2". Using either Victory V1 or Maxima Red arrows fletched with AAE Max Hunters with a radical helical. Deer and pig get a 100 ST with the same arrows and vanes. They are as accurate as any broadhead I have shot and that includes several different mechanicals.
