Anybody seeing any rut in the desert units? It is dead quiet where I am hunting.
-
. I could not agree with you more, but it’s not going to happen because of money and so-called hunting opportunity that a handful of influential people opposed to a draw want to keep OTC. guess we could blame it all on crossbow hunters

Opioids suck. High CBD/low THC marijuana works a lot better with much fewer side effects.

I ruptured the long head of the bicep tendon and had massive and irreparable damage to the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons. The surgeon said I had a max of 2 years before I would need a reverse shoulder replacement. That was 8 years ago. I get PRP treatment about once a year and am completely pain free. I had a 40% tear in the other shoulder and took PRP treatments in that shoulder rather than surgery. It repaired it. I have limited strength overhead in my bad shoulder but have complete range of motion and good strength in any position but overhead.

Deer are really scattered here too. Can hardly even find a track on water

I've kind of quit following hunting forums so I'm out of the loop. Does anyone know what this amendment to the 25-26 archery deer hunt is? It's slated to start in less than 2 weeks. Deer seasons have always been set in April and this is directed at archery. 10) Consideration of Proposed Amendment Commission Order 2 for the 2025-2026 Archery Deer Hunting Season. Presenter: Erin Butler, Big Game Management Program Supervisor. The Commission will consider and may vote to approve an amendment to Commission Order 2 (deer) establishing seasons and season dates, bag and possession limits, permit numbers or authorized limits, and open areas for the 2025-2026 hunting seasons.

Not sure but I think I still have a couple. If I do I'll let you have them. I'm in the Wickenburg area

Parkinson's is a nasty one. No cure and medications are hit and miss and eventually quit working. It has likely ended my hunting days. Good luck with your dad. Hope he gets a good one. Maybe consider a CHAMP permit? It might get him another hunt. -
Just got back from Alamo. Ranger told me they removed 1100 burros from there. I have heard rumors of farmers that have failed getting anything done about crop damage that take .17's and gut shoot them. They wander a long way from the farms before dying. But it's just rumor.

Elitism and politics. Penalize those that are already penalized. Most archery mule deer hunts will be a draw within the next 5-7 years with or without banning crossbows. Hopefully sooner than later.

Anyone ever use this boat out of Seaforth? We hired it for a full day the 4th of August.

I went and should have stayed home. There was a bait shortage. They could only get 25% of the bait they usually get. Of those 7 yellowtail one guy caught 4 of them and it wasn't me.

How much are you looking to spend?

Best of luck to whatever view you take. I’m to the point in life I really don’t care. I am pretty much done

It’s as much archery as the compound bows being used today. If it’s a separate weapon class, create a season for it. If crossbow hunters are taking a 20% kill out of the archery hunt reduce the archery hunt take by 20% and create it’s own separate season. That would mean going to a draw. I bet not many people would favor that idea.

I'm curious as to why the concern over a crossbow hunter that has a valid permit. The arguments I have heard is it's going to keep units open longer and eliminate cheaters. That and avoiding a draw. With a limited resource and increasing pressure anyone thinking a draw isn't coming has their head in the sand. And probably sooner rather than later.
-
Then they've dealt with it.
-
Let it go. This was likely decided long ago. To you "deal with it, life ain't fair" guys, your day's coming should you live so long. Then it's your turn to deal with it.
-
Wonder if they ever updated it

We are doing a six pack full day on the El Gato Dos first of August. I’m jacked!

Is your scale accurate? I used to run into that when I changed strings. Don't know if it's right but I used to fudge the string length just a bit, walk back tune it and go shoot. There was a time I was obsessive about specs but was spending more time messing with things instead of shooting.

Same here. Big rutting desert muleys with a bow is one of my passions.
