Found cross reference. It's a Marlin model 80. Try Jack First, Numrich arms, and Ebay. -
ISO magazine for JC Higgins 22 bolt action rifle

Your best bet would be to cross reference that model and see who made it. Sears J.C. Higgins rifles are derivatives of Winchester, Savage, Stevens, Marlin, Mossberg. -
Your 58g. loads are on the maximum side but your 80g. loads are middle of the road. With that long freebore I would think the only thing left is excessive shoulder bump. How much are you bumping shoulder?

Large firing pin vs small primer
L Cazador replied to L Cazador's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Better case life by going to a small primer pocket, great stuff! Since better case life is usually due to good reloading technique like not over sizing brass and shooting lower pressure loads that's fantastic! By the way I've been using UBR 308 small pocket brass for 30+ years. -
Prayers for you and your mom during this trying time. Godspeed a quick recovery.
-
Every rifle is different and so are reloading techniques. It isn't worth the damage that it can cause.

My 260 AI , 6CM, 6X47 Lapua,, 6BR and my 6.5 CM all have had the bolts bushed and firing pins turned down to .062". Problems occur when you're at the top end of the load. Blanked or partial blanking. Gre-tan in Colorado does an excellent job of bushing bolt and turning firing pins. I'd say the Axis probably doesn't. Of course if you didn't specify when you bought your custom actions they may have large firing pins.

Brunos and Sportsmans deer valley had in stock. Brunos 14% off black friday discount! By the way don't buy small rifle primer brass unless you have small rifle firing pin in your rifle bolt. You'll have ignition problems.

Midway has the Vortex Viper HS on sale today for $329!

this is a fairly new model. You may only find new. Sportsmans had them on sale for $599.

RL22 and H1000 are slower burning and not the greatest choices for the 6.8 and 150's, they're both very slow burning powders. H4350 and H4831SC are much better choices. You may want to download a powder burn rate chart so you can see where they are in comparison to RL22. Another thing to consider in using slower burning powders, is they work more efficiently in 26 inch or longer barrels.
-
H4350, period! You get a better fill on that case and more consistent ES. Start with moderate load and work your way up to maximum. Enjoy!

Right now the best bang for your buck is the Leupold Mark3-hd in 4.5X14 or 6.5X20 new about $500. This is a hot selling scope with HD glass, illuminated fire-dot reticle, and throw lever. If you can find it in-stock. Hot selling scope! Check Midway, Euro-Optic, Optics planet, Natchez, or Adorama to name a few.

LTB long range rifle/package or help getting mine dialed in
L Cazador replied to richs4839's topic in Classified Ads
Best to start your conversation with where you're located. You don't have a firearm and scope that is capable of shooting past 500 with factory ammo. If you're located in Tucson I can help you. Seekins, Bergara, Christiansen, are all good rifles but in the upper level of money spent compared to your package. -
Help! Value of these war rifles
L Cazador replied to AZJoshua's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Looks like a Jap Type 38 w/Nagoya arsenal bayonet. About $600. The 03/A3 about 800. Both prices depend on bore condition and numbers matching. Condition on both of these is not collector grade, so take what the traffic will bear. -
The German made JPSauer rifles are probably worth the most, followed by the Southgate, and the Mirouku japan made. For me bore condition is primary so a bore scope inspection is very necessary. If the original butt pad is there and not collapsed and the floor plate shows little wear, you're in the $1500 range. That's if the bore shows little wear, no oxidation or pitting. Nice rifle.
-
Rifles in excellent condition always gain value. Junk only goes down, no matter how rare it is. Junk is junk.

The recall on the Walker trigger was because you couldn't open the bolt with the safety on. The recall trigger allowed you to open the bolt with the safety on. This however didn't prevent an idiot from pulling the trigger before opening the bolt and shooting someone. Remington settled out of court and that put them out of business. Come on guys!! Your trigger finger off the trigger is the best safety!!!
-
Colonus but size is very imporrtant. Can you get your calipers and measure him? LOL!
-
You have an adjustment issue that any gunsmith can easily take care of. Of course you can install a new trigger like a Timney, Jewell, Trigger Tech, etc. You either have a very light pull or a bad sear engagement. Both will cause this. BTW I'd like to buy that Remington 25/06, bad trigger and all!!
-
You have been listening to a lot of lawyers who are Dems. Fatalities are caused by the dumb arse behind the trigger not the trigger. Time for a new brain! LoL!

An old mechanic (dad) told me it is written in the "mechanics manual of hard knocks". Never loosen a bolt or nut with a rachet. Use a breaker bar to loosen then use the ratchet to remove, Burma Shave! LOL!! Ace hardware replaced my rachet recently.

That's a brown spider, LOL! Quite common here in Arizona. Seriously it's an "Arizona Brown Spider". Usually found outdoors in plants with huge webs. They are transient so you'll find them indoors as well. They are venomous.

Thank you for the kind words!
