Thanks for all the great replies. I have lots to look into now. I would not go up with great expectations, just looking to have a quality rut experience. That is not to say I won't be looking for a good one, I just won't be dissapointed if I come home with a small bull. I am hoping to do some over the counter hunting after next year, that is one of the reasons for getting into the primitive weapon hunts.

Spoken like an engineer. Also, very true. I am rapidly becoming a big fan of the win mag, but I think I would step up to a .338 if I wanted more reach.

With the question being that generic I would have to agree with firstcoues. Both have some great choices.

I have only done it 1 time, but my friends with lots of experience say that most of the boats out of Diego on multi-day trips are excellent. It is a very competitive business and they all need happy customers to suceed. I was going to go on an 8 day trip in June but we cancelled due to my fishing buddy needing shoulder surgery. Good luck, let us know how you do.

Very nice. With a half minute gun sometimes you don't have to carry them too far from the truck

I'm just glad to hear they are contacting people who have had problems with their credit cards, that was my main beef with the system. I could care less what day they post the results...yes it would be nice if it was sooner rather than later, but this is a government office we are talking about

You guy's are right and pretty much all correct. I say all of the above. Get a good safe, get a rider on your insurance, video, photos, records of purchases and serial numbers from everything that has them. Like Anaconda said, the best insurance in the world won't replace the sentimental value that some of us have on jewelery and other items.

Howdy stranger. Best of luck in the draw, hopefully we start hearing soon.

+1 I love mine for locating turkeys and bulls

Personally, I love credit cards and the ease of doing stuff online. Fraud and cancelled cards are going to be a fact of life from here on out. I just wish the game and fish would get on board with a more solid way to deal with it when it happens. It breaks my heart to hear about hunters saving bonus points for years only to have their dreams ripped out from under them because their card was cancelled right before a draw. A vendor selling you a 2 dollar item online will call you and say "hey your card didn't go through". What is so hard about that? Supposedly that is how it is going to work this year...we shall see. By the way...cash is king, I pay off my cards every month.

Do I have to go in draw for Arizona Coues Whitetail?
pwrguy replied to aushunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Aushunter. I wouldn't rule out Mexico for those reasons. They do all types of hunting down there including hunting just like we do on this side of the border. If you hired a guide on this side of the border and crossed with your rifle with them you would have no problems getting it in and out of Mexico. These guy's do this every year and know how to get accross with minimal hassle. As far as safety I think most of the violence that is down there is caused by people that really have no interest in you. I never felt threatened down there and once I got to the ranch that I hunted on it was far better than the experience that you have here many times because of all the hunting pressure on this side. I will say this, the only thing that would stop me from going to Mexico for deer every year is cost. Good luck with your endeavor, that is a long way to travel to hunt deer...and I can say that with experience -
Do I have to go in draw for Arizona Coues Whitetail?
pwrguy replied to aushunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
aushunter welcome to the forum. Lots of good info here, and lots of good guides in Arizona. -
I can't believe how hard this stuff is to find it is ridiculous. I have been using the same 100 pieces that someone on here sold me almost a year ago, but have been looking ever since for some more.

I know of at least one member on this forum that buy's at least 1 barrell per year, and I am sure there are more. To each his own. I personally have only burned 1 completely out, but I do know for a fact that within 50 rounds you can go from 1/2 minute groups to 1-1/2 minute groups and that one of the primary causes of this is fire breathing monsters that quickly errode thoats. It kinda depends on who you are and what your goals are for shooting. If you are the guy that goes out and puts 10 rounds through your rifle to make sure you are still 1 inch high at 100 yards then yes I agree...not an issue for you.

Thanks for the feedback, I have been looking at warm season boots for about a year and just can't decide. This may help me.

Savage model 12 FVSS .308 caliber, stainless action and barrell, barrell is 26 inch fluted. Rifle has accutrigger, but standard plastic factory stock. I have put 122 rounds through this rifle. It was sold to me as new, but I think it had never been fired because it looked like it had factory grease in the barrell when I got it. This setup with the 26 inch barrell is a little hard to find. I have shot a 1-1/8 inch group at 300 yard with this rifle, but most of the time the best I can do with it is around 2-1/2 to 3 inches at 300. There are some minor scratches and dings on the plastic but nothing major. I am not looking for any trades and need cash for this deal. I am asking $625.00 at this time. I am not willing to ship, the rifle is currently in Payson. PM me if you are interested, I will consider CW members first in the order that I recieve PM's

I have been up there and fished the Kenai river a couple of times. The last trip up they were running fine, but ther amount of people was insane. I decided that was my last trip on that river, there are so many places in the world you can fish without going into combat. The best trips I have had up there have been on small ocean charter boats or one time we did a fly out trip on a float plane. Good luck.

They look old, I would say that buffet line was some time ago
