don't know what kinda penalty could be worse than being a steaming pile religion of peace @$$hole like this guy, but i was really happy to just read that a liberal state like mass and a liberal town like boston could find 12 decent folks with the guts to send him to he l l . have fun with your 70 virgins, goats that is, and rot in he l l with the rest of your slimy "brothers". ally ally akbar now dude. Lark.

this is a federal conviction. completely different than a state conviction. much shorter appeal process. like mentioned earlier, OKC bomber was in jail 6 years and got needled. this guy will get about the same. have fun with the cornhole process joke-har. hope they use bacon grease. Lark.

what kind of rifle do you have? if it's a tube fed lever like a winchester or marlin, you need to make sure to use either flat or round nose bullets. mine is a 99 savage with a rotary mag, so i can use pointy bullets. i haven't shot up the gunshow ammo i bought when i got it, but plan on someday loading up some 75 gr hollow points. should perk it up a little. also, those old rifles aren't twisted fast enough to shoot 117's or 125's. stick to to 100 gr or less. the bigger bullets won't group well at all. glad somebody is still shooting the old blackpowder rated cartridges. whoever told you .257 roberts brass could be used is stupid. period. be careful who gives you reloading advise. ,257 roberts is a necked down 7x57. not a rimmed case. nothing about it other than it's made of brass is even similar to a .25/35. with that said, i have a .25/35. next time there is a gun show in town you can usually buy all you want. there will be more than one old dude that custom reloads that will have bags full of it. the parent case is a .30/30, you can use several other cases too, but the old .30/30 is the closest to it. buy however much you need and shoot it up then if you want to reload get some dies, rcbs makes em, and then reload. the reloads you buy will probably be loaded to old factory velocity. it's one cartridge you can't improve much on with reloading and the rifles for it are so old you need to keep that in mind. again, don't listen to folks that don't know what they're talking about. you might get hurt. have fun. Lark.

when you are as smart and good lookin' as me, just listin' it once ain't enough. sorta like this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_urvjCXg6c and scoring racks is a lot like weiner measurin' and a lotta other things. another way to brag. i'd rather just be humble and know that i'm better than anybody else. Lark.

i hafta disagree that scoring animals has ruined hunting. while i'll agree it has taken away some of the man vs animal primal enjoyment that i think should be the root of it all, scoring animals, has if anything, done a lot for the sport as far as keeping a lotta folks interested. i'm not one of the guys that is real interested in scores, but knowing "the score" of an animal is a good way to keep a lotta folks interested. and if someone says an animal scores so much, i sorta know what size they're talking about. cavemen probly had some sorta way to brag about their success. they also probly measured weiners too. which in all actuallity is what a lotta scoring animals is about. like who has the jacked upedest truck, and the biggest gun, smartest dog, etc. but i never had to worry about that kinda stuff because i've always been smarter, taller, gooder lookin', stronger, tougher, and smarter and better lookin' than anybody else. b&c did away with the excessive inside spread deduction years ago. pretty sure sci doesn't even record the spread. kinda dumb to get points for air between the beams and not get credit for the mass of the points. when b&c developed their scoring system things were a lot different. only folks that cared much about a "score" were rich guys that wanted to be able to brag to each other. joe hunter was into it for meat and true sport. so, i guess it's lot like it is now. there was some effort many years ago to use water displacement to score antlers. can't remember the guy that spearheaded it. scores are ok i guess. to me, a guy oughta go hunting, shoot something they're happy with and then get ready for the next hunt. i probably have close to a dozen racks and skulls laying around that will make one book or another and have never entered even one. but that's me. if i ever shot something that might be a world record, i would enter it tho. if you wanna stretch a tape on something, have at it. if you don't, that's good too. main thing is too hunt. get outta town and into the wild country. ain't no better smell than when you open the bolt on a clean early morning right after you shot a buck and you get that whiff o' burnt gunpowder. scores don't matter much then. Lark.

the winter of 78/79 was a good wet winter. excellent run off that spring. the turd floater of '83 was in september. had an extremely wet year, especially the summer, up to that. then in september it started to rain and just about didn't quit in the mountains. big lake, crescent lake. all the greer lakes, nelson lake and lyman lake all ran over the spillway in september. first time in history for lyman to do that. the frisco had such a stream it almost washed clifton away. trees turned the railroad tressle into a dam and flooded the heck outta things. that's why they built the flood gates there where you cross the river. you can normally jump across black river. it was raging. probably over 100 feet across in the skinny places. crosby crossing turned into about a 200 acre lake. ran over the spillway on the north end and out of the smaller culvert on the south end of the crossing. during the early bull hunt it was really hard to get anywhere. you couldnt' get across places that never had water. my pal shot a bull across black river from us a couple miles above crosby xing on sunday evening. we skunt it out and went back the next day with my row boat and pulled it up the creek from crosby, floated across, loaded the bull and whitewatered it back out. had about 3 inches of freeboard with me and him and big ol' bull in the boat. took about 5 minutes to get out. what a ride. put the head up in the front like a viking boat. there was an ol' guy named shorty haws that was a woods boss for southwest timber. they called him shorty because he was only 6'8". little guy. anyway, he was crossing the dike when we were floating past to get to the truck. he said to us laughing "BOY'S, I SEEN A LOTTA THINGS ON THIS MOUNTAIN IN THE LAST 50 YEARS, BUT THAT'S THE FIRST TIME I EVER SEEN A ELK IN A BOAT" it was a good day. Lark.

so what part is illegal? is it against the law if you're drunk and chasin' a bear? sorta like drunk in publi-K!. i chase bears all the time. without a hatchet. it should be an olympic sport. tried at the chicago zoo awhile back the bears there are either real lazy or too stupid to care. this guy oughta go fishin' in black river. you hafta chase bears all day down there. Lark.

rotten luck for sure. i've lost several dogs to lions and bears over the years. no fun. Lark.

maybe it'll be a rebound year. 6 inches so far at the Rancho Neglecto this year. maybe it'll be another '83. we floated a bull out in my row boat on black river above crosby crossing that year. Lark.

Using old brass versus New brass for working up load
.270 replied to murfys69law's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
a lot of target shooters just use a neck sizer if they are using the ammo in the same gun always. i only shoot targets to practice up for killing things so i full length resize everything because i hate it when i get a tight cartridge. when i'm shooting at an animal i want my rifle to load, eject and reload in a hurry, without any worries. that's another reason i only shoot old model 70's when i'm real serious. they always pull the fired case out. seen several guys over the years yank back a 700 and leave the case in the chamber. for hunting, full length resize is my only preference. Lark. -
i think the case is a .221 fireball. shortened up .223. even shorter than a .222. the intent of the cartridge is to have a subsonic rifle that can be used with a silencer. Lark.

Using old brass versus New brass for working up load
.270 replied to murfys69law's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
new brass is nice and shiny. you still hafta check the overal length tho. had to trim a lotta new brass at times. all in all, i can't think of any real benefit to use once fired, unless you just hafta stuff that's just neck sized. i prefer my ammo full length resized. Lark. -
you guys sound like obamas welfare living minions whinin' about distribution of wealth. ooooooo, he has more .22 ammo than i do. he's a old retard hoarder. i'd go get some but i'd hafta leave the porch and my 40. (40 ouncer) you need to take his away and give it to me. if you guys had any .22 rounds they'd get all green and coroded with ya cryin' on em. i have bricks for sale for $100. any takers? Lark?

will somebody please buy this? i've bought 3 guns off here in the past few weeks. somebody elses turn. 788's are an extremely accurate, simple, rifle. it's a shame they quit makin' em. This is a real reasonable price too. be a great beginning to a custom hard core hunters rifle. Lark.

you can always say " i was gonna get you a new watch, but then i remembered the stove already has a clock on it". Lark.

i own every kinda scope known to man, and a few that ain't. never had problems with a leupold and their warranty is just as good. sent em one literally in pieces once, and a bunch of pieces too. sent it back better than new. have a couple of vortex scopes and several binoculars, no problems, clear, all that, but i like the American made Leupold things best. never had one fog up or lose focus or be hard to zero. great optics, especially if you get the varix3 or above. just got a varix3 30mm 4.5-14x40 with the side focus the other day. going on my new .375 h&h. it is one fine scope. Lark.
