My sheep hunt in the Picachos (37A east)
Lucafu1 replied to Couesdeer's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Thanks for letting me tag along. I wish i didn't have to got back to flagstaff to pick up my elk meat or I would have been there. I can't believe how many hours we watched this guy not move from his spot. It was funny after about 3 hours. Not for you I am sure. Congrats again!- 26 replies

That is sweet! -
I have one of these and it's super super accurate.

Gonna bump this up before I throw the scope back on and try selling them like that. I will go re-zero first.

Yeah there is no way I would pay that. I just put in an order with the wife. Extra meat, 2-3 seadless olives. Sometimes a Jalapeño slice.

Luckily my wife and mom makes them. But if you want some decent ones the carneceria in Mammoth are/were good. Also the carneceria in Tucson on Valencia and Houghton (Mr. Toro) are pretty good. Sorry I know this thread is for Phoenix.

If I am near Mammoth I am stopping at Mi Pueblito. I like it better than La Casita. Then I pick up some beef jerky at the carneceria.

By chance anyone near Flagstaff hunting that will be headed to, or toward Tucson this week? I have some meat that is ready for pickup at Casey's Processing. I'll pay your gas. I would also have to zelle you or something to pay them for me since its cash or check only. Thanks. Luis

This is horrible. I will pray for him and his family.

Last try before I can cancel my room. If not no worries. Thanks!

If there is hunting on both ends (not sure if there is or isnt) you can stay anywhere near Vail. I think there is a newerish hotel off of the Rita exit. I am sure there are other options too.

I wish I knew more about that unit to help. You can definitely access it from the east through Gardner Canyone road. Possibly some other roads too. I go shooting out that way but never explored much. I have taken my rzr pretty far back but that was a long time ago and I was following a buddy. You can't get pretty far. I haven't been to Madera since I was a kid unfortunately. I should learn the unit more. Maybe that will be a goal for next year. Good luck!

Anyone know anything about the other tag holders?

Just got back home yesterday from 5B where my wife filled her tag and my daughter did not. She could or should have but I screwed her by bringing out my long range rifle instead of what she was carrying throughout the hunt. She was a good sport about it and glad her mom dropped the elk. We walked alot between scouting and hunting and according to my wife's tracker we finished at 54.24 miles. Friday was the worst as we were packing the elk out until almost 11pm. Luckily by the end of the hunt my daughter was ready for more and wants a bigger bull than her mother. I want to thank @tinyturtle and @Coues&Coyotes for offering to help if I needed it . Chris was also very helpful during the hunt explaining the unit. He definitely knows the area (which is huge). I've hunted 5B twice (successfully) before but was never able to check out many parts the the u it.

Mine worked great. There is a flat side and a side that is protruded in the same shape as the NL opening.

Monday bump. I would like to help look for sheep this weekend instead of driving 🙃. Thanks.

I always wanted to hunt in the Tucson mountains. I did once and just felt weird. I was too worried about all the people in the area and didn't want any issues. I would like to try it again one day. Its a beautiful place.
