Oh this subject gets people all worked up on every gun or hunting site I've ever been on for no good reason most of the time. AR15.com had some guys from Alaska comment on a thread about this exact thing and they had some practical reasoning as the plus and minuses on revolver verse semi auto for bear defense. In the end they all chose 10mm. I've got a Glock 20 and love it. I think whatever style you are most familiar and proficient with, would be best. Hardcast lead ammo in any caliber or configuration you choose. A plus to the glock 20 is you can get a 40 barrel for it and practice cheaper if you wanted. I'd like the M&P 10mm if I didn't already have the Glock

This subject is infuriating. I always wonder why more don't speak out on this especially in the hunting community. I think because many right here on this forum support it deep down. They've had lots of well documented quality control issues. Sounds like you got a good one and I doubt you'll have any issues if you haven't by 10k. At one point I remember them being ok, not great, but ok. Then it got real bad for them for a long while and never seemed to recover. Not sure about right now.

Yes stay away from Century as mentioned. I think PSA has worked most issues out and is pretty solid most of the time and getting better. Arsenal if money is no object, lol. WASR-10s have come along way also. Kalashnikov USA is supposed to be good from what I hear. Not the best time to be jumping into the AK market for the first time unfortunately.
