Preference vs. Selection. Some guys like X lite and won't touch an IPA. If X lite is gone from the cooler, but some IPAs are still there, it may not be their preference, but they will select it, and get more lit in the process 👍 hope this helps.

6mm Remington deer bullet
CouesPursuit replied to Rag Horn's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
That sounds logical to me, recurveman. That bullet was my farthest critter with the ELDX but have killed 5 animals in 5 shots that dropped where they stood (or laid), from a sheep at 90 yards to the lion at 400, with coues and a yote in between. -
This 143gr ELDX was recovered from a lion sleeping on its side this last year at 400 yards. It was found just barely piercing the hide but not passing through the opposite shoulder. Entry- Retention-

+1 except I did recover one of many. This 143gr ELDX was recovered from a lion sleeping on its side this last year at 400 yards. It was found just barely piercing the hide but not passing through the opposite shoulder. Entry- Retention- That 90gr 6mm ELDX is definitely something to look at. -
Another powder trade: RL 26 or 223 Ammo for RL 23
CouesPursuit replied to 1uglydude's topic in Classified Ads
I would love to try a pound of RL26 but the RL23 I have is in an 8lb keg. -
Hornady 6.5 143 precision hunter in stock
CouesPursuit replied to 07Guardian's topic in Classified Ads
If production doesn't come around those will be worth $100/box closer to deer season. The 143gr ELDX is a great medium-size game bullet. And the supply on sought-after products grows every day. -
6mm Remington deer bullet

100gr Sierra Gameking is cheap and has left 2 coues DRT out of a .243. -
Nice! Now hopefully they can shift production back over to 143 ELDXs.

Ok now this one's appropriate.

I wasn't sure where this fit but now that we are talking about T..

Regardless, the new portal database should be compatible with whatever existed before.

I'll take a quick stab, and trust me, I'm no expert, just a guy whose trade flirts with programming a bit. Someone could go ahead and poke holes in this 10 minute plan and that is great. That's why I'm not the guy developing the draw software. If I'm anywhere close, this proves my point. Every application is an entry in the database, for which I'd suggest SQL, capable of just about anything and for millions of records if necessary. Each entry is assigned a unique ID for the application and has a column for number of applicants, first choice hunt #, second choice, third, fourth, etc. License numbers and more are likely in the table. This info should be automatically transferred straight from the input form (online application). Each application is awarded another entry, or row in the database for the average number of bonus points. Every row in the database is then assigned a random number, regardless of order in the database. The lowest random number for each application is kept and the rest are thrown away. A simple Frequency method based on unique ID and minimum random number should suffice. If each applicant is an entry to the database, there could be an extra Frequency that groups together applicants on the same application. Same concept. Draw algorithm #1, the Bonus Point Pass. Applications with the highest average BP is sorted from high to low. Tiebreakers for applications choosing the same hunt number with the same number of BPs use the lower random number for assignment. This process runs through from max BPs to min until 20% of each bucket is "drawn." A 5% NR cap is also present for certain species. Draw algorithm #2, the 1-2 Pass. Applications with the lowest random numbers are sorted from low to high. This process runs through the numbers from low to high and checks the columns for hunt numbers, first and second choice in the database. If there are tags available for the given number of hunters on the application, they are "drawn." If not, the application with the same random number go back in the bucket for the 3-5 Pass. A 5% NR cap is also present for certain species. Draw algorithm #3, the 3-5 Pass. Same as 1-2 Pass but there probably aren't any tags left for elk and antelope. There may be a bit more to it than that, but it isn't rocket science. Again, the 10 minute version.

I'm not an AZGFD hater by any means, and I honestly don't care that card hits are late, but calling 17,000 apps and a 10% increase "shattering" for a process that should have automated input to a database and run a relatively simple series of 3 algorithms linked to a few hundred buckets of tags is really silly. Bustedknuckleinc nailed it, and I bet there are several people on this site that could write the code for the draw process in various programming languages in a matter of days.

💯 The fact someone has to manually input anything is a failure. It is 2021 ffs.

Not at this time and not for a while. A. There are plenty of people that need it more than me. B. I trust nothing that involves government and money at this point. C. I like watching people's heads explode when I tell them I don't want it and they try to convince what is best for me.

I'd try to make a deal on those WLRMs for $60 but you're a couple hours south. I'm guessing they were well under $30 when you bought them new! GLWS.

Not sure it is of any use but this is my ballistic reticle setup with this exact scope shooting a 6.5 CR, 143 ELDX @ 2725fps. It has been very good to me and keeps my Savage LWH under 7 lbs loaded.

pm replied and thanks for the offer. I added some specifics above.

Trigger pull weight on long range hunting rifle?
CouesPursuit replied to loboscout's topic in Long Range Shooting
4 savages here. I moved my accutriggers from my 110 rifles to two Axis rifles and have them near 2.5 lbs. To stay relative, I matched up the upgraded triggers on the 110s to 2lbs. I like to get setup on the trigger before it goes boom. I feel comfortable where they're at. Good topic! -
I was thinking this (not sure on the legal issue) or they ran the draw and went back to calling 3 times for declined cards, which should be fewer than previous years. It would probably be easier and more 'equitable' (the word of the decade) that way.

My brother was always worried about my solo trips back out of service and he bought me the mini for Christmas this year. It is something I should have had long ago and highly recommend it and the earthmate app.
