Probably not worth the effort of picking up but I have 20 pieces of Hornady you can have. When I was looking for brass I found some of the loaded ammo almost as cheap as brass. Several companies use Nosler brass even for their cheap loads.

My niece had her 3rd and final youth cow hunt this weekend. We started off with a great honey hole tip from my buddy but unfortunately was an off-morning for the local heard...no elk. Beautiful spot with a beautiful sunrise view so definitely a successful morning regardless. Evening hunt we decided to drive and glass our way into a good area where we always see elk. on the way in we spotted a lone cow across a canyon and set up. 520yds facing west with the sun DIRECTLY behind the ridge. Horrible look. we moved down the road a bit and gained about 70 yds for a 450yd set up. Still bad sun but doable. We sat on it for about 45 min waiting for the sun to go behind the peak. 5 min before the sun dipped the elk decided to move. Neice said she was good and had a clean shot and took it. This young lady is ice cold. Zero nerves. Number 3 down after less than 20yd. 260ai built by axis works with massive input and help from Lance. Thanks again my friend. I definitely don't want to derail this thread but i need to pile on here as this kia saga will be a classic. So about 5 years ago on a youth cow hunt we came across this dude and about 6 kids(about 6yrs old to 14) out in the middle of 22n miles from their VAN. One of thekids had shot his cow and they proceeded to process it. ALL OF THEM. They had pillow cases that they were filling woth scraps of meat like they were trick-or-treating. So we role up on this side show with them all just standing on the side of this trail with bloody bags slung over their shoulders. Not one of them in camo... yes...we started hearing banjos about right then. So against my better judgment I stopped amd asked if they were good or needed help. I assumed they were waiting for a ride. Turns out that "ride" was me. So my crew emptied our stuff out and i took these kids, their bags of meat scraps and the dad 2 miles to their van 3 at a time. The kids had never been in a sxs so it was pretty cool for them (not sure they had ever been out of the house....). I am certain i drove too fast and hard as when we were all done there were bits of loose meat all over the buggy. We didn't actually discover this until later though. We continued discovering thisfor YEARS. I don't think we have found it all. Even now when the buggy gets hot it smells like jerky. and now back to your regularly scheduled thread... That KIA will NEVER be right....lol so awesome

Love Maven but HATED the knob on the side. Maven also has a nice no-fault warranty like Vortex but expect a 1-2 month turn around depending on what yo are having warrantied. The Vortex 4k is pretty nice

if you do it right there is no reason at all to not be able to get them inside of twenty yards. Understanding elk behavior and language is key. proper set up, and pay attention to wind. being proficient out to 60 makes the 30 a layup.

If loading bulk like for 223 I just slam through the powder dropper. If loading for "precession" rounds I use an electronic dropper then checked on a scale for every round. Pretty quick and good piece of mind. I use the frankford with zero issues. I don't shoot enough to rationalize spending more money. Only time I use a trickler is when doing load workup as each load is meticulously weighed.

we were out around globe sitting water and could have tagged out in 30 min or less easy. They came in later than I expected like 9ish. almost none before that. Interestingly not a single Eurasian.

I won't shoot without protection. ever. unless supressed and that is almost always. I always have a set of banded silicone plugs around my neck. so easy to throw on when getting dressed, just part of my gear like everything else. ive been trying out those little electronic earbuds lately. pretty happy but not sold on them yet.

Go look at the SLIK usa website (slikusa.com). Check out the refurb page. GREAT deals on legs and systems. Can pick up a blem or refurb aluminum or carbon fiber for a great price. I have bought several through there. Excellent tripods. You can also get center post extensions for glassing standing up if the model you like is not quite tall enough. I have to do that too.
