I like that. i cand find more faster with my 10x42. i can find some with the 15s i would not see with the 10's.

34% hunt success last year. A great time of year to be out hunting especailly since football commitment will be done. my buddies and i harvested a lot of bucks out that unit in the past. one year 9 out of 11 of us bagged a buck. get that .243 sighted in and a little practice will bring up the confidence of a young hunter. i have seen years where the quail hunting is quite good in that unit. you do a combo scout, shoot some quail, rabbit duck and learn the unit prior to the hunt. Enjoy.

what rifle?

the sendero is a little lighter and better for hunting. either i would think would be great. careful selection of scope and ounts also can bring down weight.

the 8.5-25 leup that is on my 6.5-284 sendero ( krieger barrel, jewell trigger)

Do you havfe .243 and knife?? the deer stay at one elevation. higher early like aug lower later like dec . once you find that elevation you will see a lot. over 100 a day.

Eric- i believe that is a great rifle. very light , like my remington tititanium.

I load .010 off for match rifles and .030 off for hunting rifles.

both the 7mm wsm and the 300 wsm have won a lot of long range competitions. both national and international.

Eric- if you go to desert sharpshooters there is a match schedule. shooting in the matches held around the valley you will become a great long range shooter.

do you reload? sell both and get a sendero. Or shoot a 10 shot group at an 800 yard target and see what the groups look like. if they are 8" or less keep it.

I wonder if Randy got in trouble for using a 98 MPH fast ball ?? it is kind of a non-tradition weapon also.

i have shot my remington/kriegers against factory rifles. some that do well are the savage f-class, savage lrp, some sakos like the trg and 85 heavy barrel.

a remington with a krieger barrel is an excellent choice. do you reload?? that affects what cartridge to choose

If you go to " riflemansjournal " ; German Salazar has done a lot of recent work with the 30-06 in long range shooting. several articles. No question the 30-06 is capable in a good rifle . his rifle started out a remington 700 left hand. even when i was shooting my 6.5-284 he beat me easily.

the rifle is more important than the caliber. what are you shooting at? coyotes ? prairie dogs? coues? a 700 long range or a sendero are a couple i would pick.

Mule- i am talking about Public Land. i just want every one to know we are subsidising the cattle business ( WHY?), which i do not agree with. Also, if we had above average rain (and) or remove the cattle the grass would grow up , more quail rabbits mice ect would be produced for the predators to choose from. 90% fawn survival inside the predator proof fence fence at 3 bar, 17 % outside . you need at least 35% just to stay even.
