usually you cimb a mtn first then glass/glass. longer shots and small targets.
-
most any rifle that will kill a coyote reliably is going to damage some fur. i would use varget/I4064 and a 165 or 168.
-
ELK MAN- you should go to a couple of the matches at rio salado. 500 yards 66 shots. they are fun. educational. usually the third saturday. pm me. roninflag

savage 111 long range hunter

yote- my experience the 300 wm is one of the easiest rounds to get a good load for after the .222 and .308 . i have loaded for 5 senderos and a m70 super grade. and while i could, i don't load that heavy for deer ect . 3000-3100 with a 165-168. i would not shoot it without the break .i shot mine in a 1000 yard match with 210 bergers awesome. enjoy. roninflag -
BESTPETER- good choice. the hunt success for that hunt is is 1.5 times the earlier hunt.

YOTE- the 300 is more power than you need for coyotes. what are you shooting at? BML has one in 6.5-284. he can tell you about it. roninflag -
Gray- PM me. we can meat there and i will show you how . grin.

you do not need an 8 twist unless you are getting a 6.5 or 6mm caliber. i would get a remington sendero.

Cartridge / Reloading Question
roninflag replied to sjvcon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
my brother has a factory .264 sendero and really likes it. i have two 6.5-284's they feed fine and were 25-06s. no problem with my feed ramps. if you do get a 6.5-06 follow what kirby says. -
My remington 700 bdl varmint in 25-06 will be on gun broker soon. the ideal factory coues rifle. will pm you.
-
SR- the deer are small. hard to see, hard to hit. also their habitat and behavior usually force fairly long shots; be familiar with what you and your rifle are capapble of. also most wt units are very rugged. being in good shape helps. i use my 10X42's more than my 15X56's; most wt hunters it is the other way around. if you get any of those books they will say optics, optics, optics.

there were quite a few in mormon lake on thursday. hundred or more. i would hide by a secluded spring or tank.
-
SR- i will be hunting that unit in october. have you hunted coues before? you are hunting with a rifle? what rifle/caliber?
-
very low hunt success there. good luck.

any of the 85-100 grainers will be fine. if not an 85 tsx( free) ; i would have them use the 85 sierra bthp ( federal factory),
