my mark v .257 is still a mystery. tried a lot of different loads. I would try a lot of 7828 and a 100 grain bullet. factory ammo for sure the primers are 215 fed, powder either mrp or re-22.
-
i would try 87 berger, 95 berger classic, 95 nosler. h-4350 or re-26 for higher velocity. varget and i-4064 for accuracy.

Have you looked at the "hunt arizona " harvest statistics? the number of whitetail bucks harvested is quite low in that unit for the past 5 years?
-
what rifle, caliber and scope?
-
-
cartridges but not the rifle/barrels. if has a nesika or bat action or equivalent action, and a Krieger barrel with a tractor axel contour, and a macmillian stock with a 2 ounce trigger , and a tight neck chamber by a skilled gunsmith you would want to neck turn.
-
those sound like hunting calibers. in hunting rifles. I would not do it. I use lapua brass in all the calibers I can. need higher skill than I have to improve it. I had to turn the 6ppc it had a tight neck chamber and was made for target shooting.
-
sierra bullets says to do it only if you have a tight neck chamber. they have a lot of experience. I have turned for 6ppc. for my 6mmbr I had it chambered with a a noturn neck. it shoots lights out. what rifle, barrel , cartridge?
-
what rifle? how did you select your projectile?
-
I currently load for 6 different .243s. what rifle are you loading for?? scope?
-
where I hunt, a good pair of binos is a big advantage. also a rifle capable of shooting out to 400 yards or more accurately; and being in good shape for the rugged terrain all help.

If you want a "real" challenge you should try my .257 wby........ the 300 wm is like a 308 ; very forgiving........ shooting out of 4 rem 700 senderos in 300wm we loaded 72.5 re -22 , wlrm, lapua brass, 210 berger .030 off. ...... .5" -.7". can't wait see the results with h-1000

with a good barrel the horizontal is usually the wind. the vertical is the load or shooter. factory barrels it could be mix of things

What do you think about having a 3 point minimum for Mule Deer?

antler restrictions are a TERRIBLE way to manage mule deer. if you protect spikes they do not get shot. they will never develop into a big antlered buck. if you want more big bucks; harvest the spikes over a long period. require a ALL bucks harvested be a spike. if are you saying a 3 point minimum. then the big bucks get harvested only. you will not have big bucks. only genetically inferior ones.
