  2. Hey guys, I'm wanting to start a rifle build and I have some questions. I know what glass, trigger and stock. My problem is picking a barrel and a local gunsmith. I know I want either a hart, krieger or shilen barrel. but I'm really stuck on what gunsmith to use. I'm wanting to make a rifle my wife and I can use for long range hunting, out to 400-500 yards. any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Craig

krieger, kreiger, hart, bartlein, broughton.brux, for rifle barrels. what caliber and action are you going to use??

Remington 700 action in 7mm rem mag

Bob Brackney IS one of the best in the world. a little ways from scottsdale. not as far as prescott though. my 7mm mag. with a krieger shoots awesome. Tj- i have a 7mm mag reamer.

  3. I ordered the rest last april and have had it for 5 weeks............it is awesome and well worth the wait.....it is a no turn neck with about .003 clearance (attached a blue print of reammer like mine except my neck is .316)......I'm a new-bee to F-Class and this is my first rifle .......

    Grumpy

[/quote i haVE Been shooting f-class for a couple years now with a a rem 700 6.5-284. when you gonna start shooting??

  5. Good- i bought a near new 25-06 sendero stainless fluted maybe 5 years ago. took the barrel off. had my smith put a fluted krieger. took the rem trigger and sold it for 40. bought a shilen for 79. installed it myself. not easy like a jewel or timney. my 300 sendero is factory excecpt the trigger . jewel. i actually like the shilen better except the installation. the senedero/hs stock is not as good as a Mcmilan A-2,3,4,5. it is a solid stock . considering the number of coues shooters in the east valley i would think more shoot at the rio salado matches.

  6. kreiger barrel +300 , thread and chamber +150. sell original barrel -150. adjust trigger myself. leave factory stock. leave action as is. my gunsmith does not do anything to the action. why would he? mine shoot real good that way. wanna shoot come out to rio on sat march 19th?? bring some money. the 300$ for me is a time and component($$) saving investment. i live 136 miles from ben avery. everything shoots good. load shoot.

  7. i load for two, my brother has three, my son in law has one. i shot a coues with 120 balistic tip. 49.5 h-4350. i did not get good accuracy with the 140 berger. the 123 and 139 scenar have been excellent. i have used mrp-2, mrp, h-4350. h-4831sc did not get good accuracy. what rifle? what scope?? we shoot in the various F-class matches in the valley.( desertsharshooters.com.) perfect warm up for coues . you get to shot more than one round per year.

  8. desert- the rifle is more important than the caliber. the remington sendero or a winchester laredo are great rifles . i suggest a 7mmrm or a 300win ( you can load these two down). . start reloading. i would not get a 308. i would not "share brass" from one gun to another. get on longrangehunting.com and 6mmbr . get a sendero add a vais, a good scope ; adjust the trigger you are ready to start. for practice there are matches at rio salado, prgc, and ben avery. look on desertsharpshooters.com for dates/times.

  9. 7mms-one of mine is a sendero/ krieger barrel ; the other is a 1968 adl 24". the 215gm primer gave higher veloctiy and higher pressure and higher sd. Everything shot good in the krieger/sendero. some real good especially the 168's. i have shot a lot of 139 horn as high as 3275 with h-4831( 69.0) in the adl. thought that load was was great; until i shot 140 berger and 140 accubond about a month ago. i use h-4831 and h-4831sc. usually rem9.5m primers. i will have to check amount of powder, it was around 3200fps. 200 yards the adl shot less than 2". one group at one hundred went into .112; 140 accubond and 140 berger.

  10. I need help trying to find the right bullet and load. Ive been shooting nosler 180gr bullet with RL19 and RL22.It says they are the best load but hasnt meet my needs Ive put about 80 rounds through it and cant find the right one. Should i drop to different grs or switch loads any help would be great.

regge- what gun? scope? what primers?

  11. two-seven-dee, two-seven-dee, two-seven-dee. well, actually anything but a 7mm/08 is ok. Lark.

i suggest a 6.5 -284. i shoot often in the f-class matches in phx and mesa. they are the perfect warm up for rifle hunting coues whitetailes. i have never shot against a . 270 or a browning a-bolt. i would like to. grin

  12. hunterX- the video is removed. i would have liked to see it. i have repeatedly invited the hunters/shooters here to shoot in the f-class matches at rio salado (500 yards) and (600) and PRGC(500). there may be some matches in tucson also. it is a "great" way to see what you/rifle are capable of. wards obviously has been doing some serious shooting down near wilcox. wards that is a great pic. great shooting and skill by gabe. i must be old because while i have rifles that look like gabes i think the one on the left is prettier. not having seen the vid what can i say ? the more you shoot the better you will understand your limits , doesn't matter if i is a bow, musket, handgun, rifle. i shoot a lot , 500 yard shot on a target the size of a coues is challenging/ tough. shoot a ten shot group at 500 with your coues rifle and see what it looks like . very educational. roninflag

  13. Go rem and build up from there. I like the rem 700 tac with the shorter barrel. Snipers use it all day long out to 1000. its like 600 new. The stock on it would shoot fine to start. I have a Tika that shoots 700 out of the box. So it may just depend on you and the particulair rifle you end up with. That Rem 700 tac is awesome, but your looking at 900+ on a scope anyways so might as well plan on spending 2000-3000. Guys are saying 2000 but this must be without taxes...lol.
