    Whats in your holster ?

Glock 30S loaded with 230gr HST's. Everyday, everywhere. It's not a choice, but a way of life.
  2. Several years ago a young couple decided to glass across the valley while sitting in front of my camera. After an hour of glassing, I guess they had not seen anything(including my camera), because they decided that hunting was no longer the priority.....

    Snowmobiler Shoots Moose

If he felt his life was threatened, then he was more than justified. Only thing I'd have done different was had a round in the chamber, and had it more accessible. That amount of time can easily be the difference between life and death. Could this had been avoided? Of course! Could he had fired a warning shot into the ground or thrown a snowball at it? He could have done that. I'm sure it was a great day for ice fishing, and he could have been doing that too. But it is what it is. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Who are we to judge his actions when he felt his life was threatened? I am curious though, how many have every had their life threatened enough to draw down & shot the threat? Were you justified in drawing? Were you justified in shooting? Could you have done anything different? I would be shocked if someone answered yes to the first question and not to the next three.

Looking for 300 win mag brass----Anyone?

I pass by several stores in town each day on my 60+ mile commute home that may have some in stock. I could pick some up for you. How many are you wanting, and any brand preference?
  8. Only 3 benches posted? Figured there would be quite a few more with as many reloaders we have here. Guess I need to clear my bench off and take some pics this weekend.

    thinking about calls

The best call is the one you can use the best and have the most confidence in. For me, it was the aforementioned hoochie mama when I was starting, until I learned it was an elk alarm instead of an elk call. Now, I have several dozen calls. My go to calls are diaphragm calls, specifically the single reed cow/calf calls. Those are the ones I have the most confidence and consistency with. My best advice would be to get several single reed diaphragm calls, a calling CD, and put your drive time to/from work to good use. It may take a while, but keep at it and soon enough, it will just happen. Once you make it into the field, keep in mind that if you are close enough to knock an arrow, you better have the call in your mouth.

    New to Cousewhitetail

Welcome to the site, Mike. Wish I had some info on the rez hunt, but I don't. I might suggest changing changing the title of this thread to reflect it being about hunting there, as there are several members here who hunt it regularly or are tribal members themselves. Best of luck on your hunt.

Free gear for youth waterfowl hunters

Well, since only two youth posted, I've decided to spilt the gear between each of them, as there is plenty to share. Mr. Smith and CouesPursuit are throwing a few things into the mix, so much kudos to them. All said, there are 2 dozen duck decoys, a pair of calls, 5 decoy bags, a pair of waterproof gloves, a hand warmer pouch, and several dozen regular and XL goose decoys, being a decent mix of floaters, shells and full size. Hunter and Grady, congrats to you both. If you can give me till next weekend, I'll have everything ready for the two of you, including the stuff from the other guys as well. I look forward to hearing some good stories from you two in the future, and welcome to the site.

Free gear for youth waterfowl hunters

Seeing as how I was a freshman in college when I was given them, I guess I cannot see why not to include him/her as well.

  22. George forman grill, looks like never used. $20 Sportz Tent II, full size short bed truck tent, CAMO!!!(not sure on pattern), and NIB. $150 obo Redwing steel toe work boots, Model 2264, Size 10. 97% tread left, manufactured 4/12, purchased 10/12, worn less than 3 weeks at work over 4 months trying to break them in before realizing I put on too much weight since my last pair and should have listened to the lady at the store and gone larger. They have some scratches and a years worth of gathering dust on them, but you could easily get 2+ years out of them before needing to resole them, and then who knows how many. The pair before this was the most comfortable boot I've ever worn, as well as longest lasting(wore out the leather after 4 years w/out conditioning or resoling)and now I am in a properly sized pair that are the 2nd most comfortable pair I've ever worn. $120 obo 10% back to the site.

Value of .22wmr vs .22lr for trade

Value is in the eye of the beholder. This is a perfect example of a free market deal. If I was sitting on 10k rounds of 22wmr and 0 rounds of 22lr, and had been looking for 6 months without finding any, then I might consider a 2:3 trade fair. At the same time, if I had 10k rounds of each, and needed no more of either, then a 1:4 trade would be more to my liking.

Making Leather Products from Elk hide

Buy some tooling and do it yourself. It's been years since I did any leatherworking, but patterns were readily available and the satisfaction fro wearing/using stuff one made was awesome. Used to be a place on the Tempe/Scottsdale border that had all the supplies, tools and templates one would need.
