    Hey Kodi and VPN nerds

I use express VPN for everything except logging into my work servers. One account and I can use it on all my devices. Was a necessity when I was working in China a few years ago and have had it ever since.

    Sell or keep

Looks like an old M1952 Army Field Desk. Had 5 or 6 of these when I was a kid that we used as chuckboxes for each patrol when I was in boy scouts. makes for a great way to keep most of your camp kitchen gear together in one spot, with a table to work off of to boot. Not the lightest options out there, especially once filled with kitchen gear, but incredibility durable. And being square, makes packing in a truck bed or trailer pretty easy.
  6. All my elk hunts in AZ have been archery, but when I first got into elk hunting back in CO, Accubonds were my preferred bullet out of my 308 and 300WM and my gf's 25-06.

    ? On Muzzleloaders reg change.

There is no need to make any change to the current muzzleloader regs. Smokeless powders are already not allowed. R12-4-301 (Definitions) "'Muzzleloading rifle' means a firearm intended to be fired from the shoulder, incapable of firing fixed ammunition, having a single barrel, and loaded through the muzzle with black powder or synthetic black powder and a single projectile." Taken from page 125 of the 2019-20 AZ Hunting Regs

short clip of something i have not seen before.

Hard to beat those prices, especially with empty room in my freezer. Where is this fishing out of?
  9. Look for "low gas block height" front sights, or a "gas block riser" and that should help with the rails not being in the same plane.

    Arizona Conservation area(s)

Used to walk through Spur Cross ranch with my bow each winter to reach the NF lands on the other side. Had many occasions where I was afforded the opportunity to educate many small minded ex-Californians... Get through the area and enjoy your hunt on the other side.
  11. The UML is the best you'll get outside of a custom smokepole. Superb accuracy, but there are a few drawbacks. Being that it is built on the 700 action, an FFL is required if buying new (or from out of state). Also, the recoil is substantial at max loads, so I highly recommend a brake for it. And if you plan on shooting BH209, Remington will not warranty the firearm as the breech plug design is insufficient to contain these loads and you will experience gas cutting at the thin part of the plug where it meets the primer. Aftermarket plugs that resolve this issue are available. If you do decide to go the route of the UML, PM me and I can send you a ton of info. Just know it is not a cheap endeavor. And if you don't, I can sell/trade you my old one along with everything that goes with it.

I am curious. If you had a week off in January to chase deer in southern AZ, which week in January would you spend down there?

Loved my 240. Only a few other guns I'd take over it, but non of them are portable at that point. Hopefully her uncle gets her a Mk19 next year...

    Verde Rim Access

I am mentoring a kid who drew his first elk tag, and was curious how bad the roads are to get back to the Verde Rim in unit 21? Specifically looking at FR68G to the Tule Mesa area and the drop down into Houston Creek, FR68 up Sycamore Creek, 9709M to Chalk Tank, 68E to Arnold Mesa Tank and FS574 back into Table Mountain and McCraken down below? Can a 2wd truck make it down these roads or is a 4WD/ATV required? I don't mind AZ pinstriping, but I will have limited time to scout for his hunt and don't want to waste a weekend breaking down or being stuck.

    Verde Rim Access

I appreciate the feedback. There's still plenty of time for me to try to find a decent used SxS (I've been looking for an ATV anyways) or I can rent. As for his tag, it is the mid Oct rifle cow hunt. He is excited to go and looking forward to trying his luck at elk hunting.

    Sold

Phenomenal spotter. For half the price of the Swaro 85, you're getting a better spotter (at least to my eyes). The spotters I would put atop this are the Swaro 95 and possibly the Zeiss 95 Harpia, but I have not done a side by side with the Harpia yet (though have read a few concerning reviews on birding forums about). Best of luck on the sale, and someone is going to be really happy with an amazing piece of glass.

    New muzzleloader... Need help!!!

I was torn between the V2 LR and the UML. And yes, the cost to do a LR smokepole gets expensive very quickly. You will easily spend 4x or more to go the route of the 700 UML vs the CVA.
