WTB boy scout merit badge booklets

Tommy, I commend you for getting your boy involved in scouting. It's the best thing out there for young men in my opinion. You should bookmark this website, http://www.scouting.org/. You will find the most current info for every merit badge there. Also, I would suggest that you take some of the adult training available on the site, specifically Youth protection and safe scouting just to get started. If you ever have any questions concerning scouting, feel free to shoot me a PM. I've been involved with scouting since I was 5 years old, so if I don't know the answer right away, I can tell you were to find it. Jerry
  2. Good 'ol whisperlite. I'll take it. Do you know if it is the regular or the international?
  3. Can you please give more detail on the stove? My scout troop is looking to purchase some more stoves.

    My Nov is free!

Gotta love it when you don't need to worry about vacation time! I've been laid off during the January deer season for two of the last three years, and it's been great. As long as you have planned prior to this should something along this line happen then why not take the entire fall off and go back to work after spring turkey! If not, then make the most of your time off. What line of work are you in?

    Best tripod

Not wanting to open a can of worms, but if you open up the political discussions sub-forum, the majority of topics/posts from January through March/April were concerning the AZSFW/AZSFWC and SB2072. Fell free to read to your hearts content, and decide for yourself what happened and who is who. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/index.php?showforum=20

good quality light weight rain gear

Gore-Tex is your standard go to, which can be found in sitka and most mountaineering grade rain gear. In recent years, NeoShell and OmniDry have emerged into the game, as well as others. I have a nice lightweight packable rain jacket in OmniDry that has always kept me dry and I have put it through some fairly rough terrain without it ripping yet. If you are looking for something that is camo, then your best bet is either Sitka our Kuiu. Personally, I have never tried out either Sitka or Kuiu, but there are plenty of discussions on line in regards to which is better.

    az archery club

Swung by today to take a quick peek, wife called me several hours later to remind me to go home. Awesome selection of bows, LOTS of shooting lanes & very helpful staff. Managed to shoot several new bows, and think I found my christmas present to myself. I also asked about some of the smaller companies bows and was told they would order me any bow I wanted. Their selection of accessories was nice, there is a sitting area to relax and swap hunting stories, and they still have room to fill things in. Even though I shoot in the backyard, I think I may have to swing by and start doing some shooting there.

    hiking poles or staff

I 2nd the Black Diamond Trekking Poles. The locking mechanism on them is the best on the market, no way it will come loose on you when you use it to brace a large downward step with a heavy load on. No matter which brand you go with, trekking poles make a heck of a difference going downhill on your knees. Also, it increased my speed on more level terrain and I feel like I can go much further now too. Honestly, I do not think that I would want to do any type of backpacking or back country/off-trail hiking without them. My wife also complained about them being in the way when she first started using them, but now she too will not go backpacking without them.

DSI as well, but I work at the shop. Every now and then I get out to the PUB to do a walk around, so I am sure I've walked by you at least once.

    limited time out

60-60-50... Gotta be Intel. I know just how you feel. Been on 6-12's+ since last year doing CAD for F42. Finally managed to check water and set up a cam this last weekend. I should be off the weekend you have your 50. Shoot me a PM with which direction were you thinking of heading? I've got a few spots in just about each direction.

    Auction tag winners

I managed to find a list of the people who had won the raffle tickets in the past, but so far have not been able to locate a list of the winning bidders for the auctioned tags. Can anyone here point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Been a while since I've been on site but been working on F42 since Nov., 22 and 32 for a few years prior to that. Use to see daryl_s a few times a week when I was in 32.

    new zealand elk

If memory serves me right they were a gift from President Theodore Roosevelt, but I'm not sure if it was to the country of New Zealand or to certain citizens/ranches.
  21. My mind has a tendency to wander, and somehow this thought got in my head, and it scares the dung out of me. If memory serves me right, with the wording that was used in the original HB2072, any 'conservation group' with a certain amount of member 'chapters' that are not part of a national org, who have been in existance for X amount of years, would qualify for being able to secure 350+ tags for raffle and auction for that particular group. Does that mean that if enough local anti-hunting groups formed multiple 'conservation groups', waited the X amount of years, paid the deposit up front, that each of the overhead 'conservation groups' would be able to take an additional 350+ tags from the pool? Also, what would stop them from limiting raffle/auction tags to only thier members, a member only expo, and no one paying more then $1.00 for a tag, just to throw it in the trash to keep hunters from hunting. The $350 they raise would not be enough to cover administrative costs, so they would not have to worry about paying for hunter retention or conservation. I saw nothing in the wording that I could tell would prevent this from happening. Just think, if there were 10 of these groups, that would be over 3500 of the premium tags out of the draw with none of them being used. Which would leave how many for us to draw? Any? I've always been told that I tend to read into things a little too far, but this has me very worried.

    ADA statement

I have been watching these topics closely and am deeply concerned with what has transpired. I'll match your $10 for both Kent and Amanda. I was planning on getting there early, so I might have to join ya. Maybe make it a meeting before the meeting. Jerry

    Flying The Crack

He broke both ankles and has a bruised knee, but is otherwise fine, not to mention lucky as heck. This was his 2nd attempt to jump off Table Mountain that week. He did not, however, have a permit to jump off the mountain and is now facing a $190 fine, but no jail time. The company that was filming him for HBO is also facing fines, and a possible expulsion from all national parks in South Africa.
