    Enough moisture?

96 was the first year with out a book elk. 99was another year but Caid blamed that on management of the WMAT

    Enough moisture?

Ive heard that about Antelope for sure. I haven't done much research about that. My comment was directed that arguably the biggest bulls in the state the last few years (except last year) have come from the desert. An area with historically low moisture levels but that have age and genetics. While unit 1 with the highest moisture levels of the state cant get a bull over 6yrs old. They have some great genetics just not age..Little exaggeration but not much 96 was the drought year and a giant 420+ bull was killed that lived on the WMAT he just happened to jump the fence in 3c. I had a tag that year and I missed a bull that went 404" but that was a gross score and I never saw a picture of him dead. 96 had water everywhere compared to this year.. 😬

    Score Guesses???

We were looking right into the sun and he was in the shade but I had him between 105-110. With my best guess 107ish. Mass was average at best.

    My Mx buck

Estimated wind gusts of 25-35mph maybe more. 950 yards cat accidently walked into this one. I missed 3 prior shots 2 barely 1st shot was 4 ft right after holding 3 feet left. Probably an exaggeration wind was tricky. 210 gr berger from my 300 RUM.

    Enough moisture?

If you have ever been around the cattle business you will know that grazing animals can put on a lot of weight and use all available feed to maximize the potential. It looks like this year there will not be any feed to use. I figured it could be a bad year holding some hope for some late winter spring rains but I'm losing all optimism.

    Enough moisture?

yep I agree to some extent but have you hunted 23s? Genetics and age class are significantly more important that people think.

    Sheds? To Early?

This week is when it should start happening. Not many Elk have dropped yet. I saw a few bulls the other day that were all packing still. I did see a picture this year of a bloody pedicle Feb 21st and that is by far the earliest I've ever seen. I don't see deer drop until April usually

    BTX 12x50 Combo?

So I'm probably in the minority but the BTX does very little for me. It is a great piece of glass for certain applications but I still prefer my 12s and the 95mm straight. BTX is fixed 35x I believe and when I'm really picking a buck apart to field judge it or make sure it is what I want the 70x on the spotter is invaluable. To me the BTX would be used as a set of glassing binos. for example looking for elk or antelope 2-3+ miles out or deer a mile out but is too heavy and too low power to be used as only a spotter. That being said one of these days I'll try and be an owner of everything.

    Tipping Taxidermist

In order to tip you have to have your bill paid off. I have a monthly payment to my taxidermist and dont see that ending anytime soon.

    18,000 new elk apps

I don't have data to back it up but I bet 15-20% of archery Coues hunters kill 90% of the deer. and again 80-90% of those are on salt or water. Mandatory reporting is the only way we can get a grasp on what is really going on. I wish they would have implemented it years ago.

Honda has always been the most reliable and dependable. Nothing even comes close in that department. I'm sure others have more "features"

    Contractor needed in Snowflake

I have a few patients that are contractors up here. They are all telling me they are 10 months to a year booked in advance, at least for new builds. Good luck crazy times to build.
