Blake-nice job on a great buck! -
I was born and raised in the Show Low area and had a father that loved to hunt, trap, call etc... he was a diehard outdoorsmans. He was and is a Mule Deer fanatic. He read in an old "hunters Encyclopedia" that the correct pronunciation was Cows. From the time I was born that is the way I was taught. I have "evolved" over the last 20 years to say Coos because most everyone thinks you are a snobbish non-hunter know it all, if you say Cows. Since I have an affinity for these whitetail I have spent a fair amount of time trying to research the correct pronunciation and I believe it actually rhymes with House. Either way I normally still say Coos or usually just whitetail. I love these deer.

Awesome rifle. Looks great. I love Kuiu gear but please do not Hydro dip it in Kuiu. It looks so much better now. -
It is a great experience for these young men. Cole looks well.

I have no idea why or how but I use my phone for all my maps and GPS. I down load all areas of interest before I leave and it has never let me down until this past month on the strip...the GPS never picked me up even though the maps were there...it worked before and after without service but didn't there...time to start carrying my Garmin again..

What is the farthest you have tracked an animal?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to AzDiamondHeat's topic in The Campfire
I shot a bull at 7:45 am and spent all day tracking and put a finishing arrow in him at 6:30pm. Occasionally found blood but most was by his tracks...well over 4 miles and 4 or 5 roads, (bumped him one time, buddy kept getting the truck and bringing it closer..) Crazy thing is that it was one full lung and clipped the second lung. ( steep angle) I'll never doubt the toughness of elk... -
Great buck....!! Funny to see the dynamics of the site change over the last 10+ years. You used to be one of the regulars.

To tell you the truth a long time ago when I was in High School nobody beat Blue Ridge. Not so much now. To me it is about Mountain Pride. I'm a big fan of getting to know more people from the mountain. Good place to be. Brian-stud buck, no more hijacking from me. I shouldn't have said anything, again just friendly banter.

Dedicated Father & Son Duo take a stud buck
WHT_MTNMAN replied to DotShot's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
That looks like a stud buck. I like the smile on the young man, that is what it is all about. Looks like a teens buck to me. Great buck -
I wouldn't smoke your turkey before the actually cook time. It will get plenty of smoke into the meat and since turkey doesn't have much fat you will dry it out. I've been impressed with most of Traegers Recipes. This year I'm doing 4 turkey breasts on the smoker. Can't wait. Brine for close to 24 hours for sure.

Ok so we are going to make this a competition. How about a teaser from my brothers hunt. He shot this last Tuesday. on the strip. Cougar Pride!!!! Not trying to hijack Brian, just friendly banter with the Blue Ridge crowd. Sweet buck of your nephews. Way to get it done.

Good luck, and have fun. I hope you find a great bull.
