I did a quick google search and yes we have had mountain goats in AZ. Including the Grand Canyon. haha
-
I would assume, but yeah I have no idea. My Az goat history is zero.
-
I kind of wish the same thing. I'm just not sure there would ever be a huntable population. I would love to hunt them again.
-
As someone that has had the experience of hunting goats above treeline, I just want another one. They are cool animals. I think it is pretty cool to shot one in AZ, possibly the first ever??? That is pretty special IMO
-
Yeah its cool, it has decent hair and it is a billy

We are trying to kill the deer, not pet it. respect as very little to do with it. Have you ever seen predators kill a deer or elk?? They eat it from the back end forward most of the times. We are better than animals but we are still trying to kill them. Every time I make stupid decisions (buck fever) it is at 50 yards and under. I'm a much more respectful person at 700 than 25 if the metric we we are talking about how, is howcalm we are and how well we can make a "good shot". I've seen plenty of wounded animals from people at 100-300 yards. I'm kind of sick of this holier than thou attitude that people have for other hunters. The real sign of respect and integrity come from WHAT YOU DO AFTER YOU HIT A DEER, do you chalk it up to miss, poor shot? Do you track it until you find it or do you give up after 5 minutes? Do you even go look for it? Do you check for it for multiple days? To me that is what shows the moral and ethical side of a person. That being said in todays world/internet its best to leave off yardage. I"ve never seen much good come from it. Congrats on a fine deer and a heck of a poke. -
With 2 new grand children coming this fall my wife decided she didn’t want to hunt. It never was in my plans to give her tag back, but she told me she wanted to spend time with the new mothers and babies. So I headed to my draw unit by myself. My son and his wife decided to come visit for a couple days and my wife made the trip up with them. needless to say very little real hunting happened that opening weekend. After they all went home I spent a few days by myself putting everything I had into finding a decent deer that my friend had pre scouted. Lots of driving, still hunting. Glassing and enjoying the woods. I got lucky right before dark. I saw a group of 4 bucks, 2 big bucks and 2 small bucks. Thinking it was the group I had seen opening morning I made the quick decision to shoot the one that was in the opening. Either of the two big bucks I would be happy with. It actually was a buck I had never seen before. It took me a while to find him at night and with flashlights and by myself I took a few videos. These are the best screenshots I got off the video. Here are a few pictures from that trip

I don't have a real problem with all of the classifieds but it does get a little annoying. haha. I like a good hunting story and I did NOT tell a good hunting story but it was a story at least.

A few years ago we sold our home and our plan was to wait until prices came down up here on the mountain before we started to build. Well it didn’t happen so we built last year. Anyway during this time we had invested some money into my remodeling my parents “little” house (580 sqft) so they allowed us to live there rent free for the next 3 years. It was the first time I hadn’t had to pay rent or mortgage in our 25 years of marriage. My wife was ok if I invested some of that money saved into my personal and emotional well being. I was able to get CO vouchers the last couple of years. I shot a good buck my first year, but I hadn’t seen anything over 170” to shoot until this year. I’ve always been ok going home empty handed but when this deep forked buck gave me the opportunity I decided to take it. A couple of random bucks screenshots. My first CO buck a few years ago. this years buck.

2025 Early Coues Hunt Success
WHT_MTNMAN replied to CWpredator's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Thanks for sharing!!! I know too many people use this site to buy and sell things and I for one sure miss the days of sharing a few details and pictures. Some great bucks! and looks like a great time. Good luck with the rest of your season -
First trip of the year was our annual Mexico trip. I’ve been with Rob in old Mexico maybe 12-13 times. As always a great trip with friends. This year was tough in regards to big bucks but we had a great time regardless and still killed some solid bucks. I haven’t killed a buck for a few years now I’m hoping we can manage for older class bucks but who knows, it seems like we never see the same deer anyway.

I was planning on sheep hunting this weekend You all ruined that idea. I can't believe he was so insensitive to my wants.
-
There are a lot of things I need to do, I'm still trying to prioritize. The older I get the more I like fishing. Its not as hard on my body as packing in to remote areas. lol
-
Well you guessed it. Rob and I took off on another adventure. He invited me with a group to catch a few fish in Old Mexico. Again another great trip and awesome fish and memories.

My buddy Rob has some friends that go through a group down in the valley. I didn't know any of them but it wasn't hard to twist my arm to join up after an opening came up. We went with PRO BASS ADVENTURES, they did a great job. I fell bad but that is about all I know. I showed up and fished.

haha actually this was a pretty inexpensive trip (relatively) I think it was around $2k and flight was a couple hundred bucks. They provided meals, boats, guide etc.. Pretty reasonable.
-
Yes it was catch and release. Rob and I caught a few in the 7lb almost 8lb range. I think my PB was 7lb11oz???? Some of the guys that are better fisherman than i am caught a few double digits with I think the big one of the trip was almost 13lbs???
-
Thanks buddy, We are planning mid January again How about you guys?
-
Its hard to believe how hard it is to draw any tag in general anymore

Next up Rob and I took some of our family to NM for Oryx. my son and son in law had a great time shooting their first Oryx. Rob’s brothers shot some also I didn’t get pictures of them all
