ok getting closer to being ready. still nothing big on the cams, well besides bears. got the stand up but won't you know it will prolly rain a lot and mess that all up. gonna go back up and counter for that and set a ground blind and maybe a brush blind to see if I can't cover all the bases this time... Now to get more shooting in and pick up some more broadheads (stupid rabbits) James

when you put down an attractant ie. food/salt they will start hitting it and then they tell their friends and they tell their friends and so on. LOL! seriously though, sometimes a salt spot will take some time to develop into a great spot! a good trail to water has been working good for me. James

#1I would like to shoot a nice coues with my bow. only killed a muley spike so far with my bow and that was pure luck! I have missed a couple nice bucks and passed on a few other spikes so looking to redeem myself! #2 help my wife kill her first deer which this will be her fourth tag but have had some tough hunts! The anti-corn flingers need a new excuse
JLW replied to DesertBull's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
DB, the article I just read from your post says nothing about feed corn???? am I missing something? also AZGFD states in the article that Texas has had CWD. Game and Fish began testing for CWD in Arizona in 1998. CWD has been found in Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas , but no cases have been detected yet in Arizona. There is no evidence that CWD poses a risk to humans, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control james -

yea, I'm having trouble with my moultrie d-55 IR as well. seems to be inconsistant! my other moultrie are pretty good except for battery life. I will be up grading after this season! My buddy has the m-80 which is similar, we'll see how well that 1 works. James

I probably won't, trying hard to get a nice buck! don't really have the funds to do anything with a bear right now. I will gladly put someone on him though! James

ok, so we head out friday night late. got to our spot about 1:45 am. start unloading the truck and all of a sudden we here this bear let out an angry roar!!! my wife starts getting scared, like really scared! so I turn on the head lights and let out a yell of my own" hyawwwww".... I know stupid, right! my wife looks at me like I'm mental! lol! another minute goes by and he lets out another roar, and I mean you would have thought a grizzly was right there! So I said to heck with this we're outta here! I threw all the stuff back in the truck and we drove to another spot that wasn't so dense with forrest. checked the cam the next morning about 1 mile from where we first started to camp and this guy was on there! Time is am not pm and the day is off by 1 should say 7/7.

I have the same thing going on, guys treestand been there for 3 years now at the bottom of a pinch point where a now dry spring runs down there after the rain and heavy trails leading to it. this year he had no cam set so I went about 1/4 mile down from his and set a cam.... now he has a feeder (with a timer) set out with his trail cam. what can you do????? I have a couple other spots so no too worried. Always have a couple of back up spots! Maybe leave a note and trade info or work out a schedule of when he/you will be there to hunt. James

you can read about him here. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/CouesWhitetail_Member_Spotlight/lark_hubbard.htm he is an ornery ol' cuss! I found him quite witty and hilarious at times. he had vast knowledge on a ton of subjects. James
