Truth bomb right there. I've been between 10 and 15 percent, years ago (early 20's) and that was a dedication project. Under 10 percent is a huge commitment. 6% is downright shredded. It's a 1 percenter fitness guru thing.

It's amazing how much easier hiking is every pound that you lose. trphyhntr - I just did a 2.5 mile no-load hill hike 50% uphill and 50% down - and lighter is always better. Better for the back, feet, knees - etc etc etc. Just btwn 15-16lbs down now is very noticeable.

We're officially 12 weeks from archery elk - time for a 12 Week Transformation. I got started on time for a change. Down 14 Since April 26, the day I got my tag in the mail. More to do - got a plan.

For me I find that the one thing that gives me the most bang for my workout minutes is the love/hate burpees. Love: full range of useful motion that works you from head to toe and there's nothing I can point to that's bad for a joint or muscle - no unnatural motion and lots of lung. Hate: sucking wind and wishing I'd never committed to a morning of slowly counting my way to 100 and trying to beat last week's time. Good God - they are always better when you're finally done. Yeah, I can't say I like them, but with the overall benefits they're a once a week thing on the schedule and will be until I'm too old to do them. And you? What's your gotta have?

Hunts for Heroes (AZ Elk Society), along with HEALY Arms, will be holding a hunting clothing drive this weekend at Healy Arms in Tempe At least FIFTY PERCENT of the disabled Arizona military vets that Hunts for Heroes takes out hunting (via Az. G&F's tag transfer program) have never hunted big game. That said, many of these vets are just not adequately prepared when it comes to appropriate clothing and gear needed for their outings. To overcome this problem, the Arizona Elk Society's Hunts for Heroes program hatched the idea of a "Camo Closet". A program to gather up donations new or lightly used camouflage and cold weather clothing that folks have at home that is not getting used. We'd be looking for camouflage clothing, hunting boots (insulated or not), gloves, knit hats, plus cold weather clothing that could be worn under leafy wear/ghillie suits. We need camping and hunting gear too! No Donation is too small - everything matters.
