Cat, likely bobcat. Smaller, darker colored scat near the top looks like a "challenge scat" left from a fox.

I suck at all things ballistic, but am now a bit curious regarding the non-use of fmj bullets to take game in AZ. Do fmj bullets wield too much power, giving hunters an unfair advantage over our game, or are they too weak, which would result in lots of wounded and missing animals?

I would still go out again. I have called bears in late October and know they are still out and about into November in large populations as well. There is still time. I am kind of shocked that some of the recent deer hunters have not reported on seeing any bears or filling a bear tag while out for their deer.

Very cool story! Bears can seriously cover some ground when they want to! As an aside, you mentioned you had been after a bear for 9 years? So did you start hunting for bear when you were 10, as you look to have a long hunting career ahead of you (not to mention 8 of the big 10 under your belt)! Great accomplishments for a young man!

I am still old school ants and maggots. Just leave small skull under a citrus tree. Most skulls will "yellow" a bit with this process.
