Has anyone tried the hearing aids for hunting that are on the market these days. I would sure like to hear some opinions and recommendations if anyone has one to share.

I have bought 3 Moultries from Wally World and 1 works great. The second one was extremeley slow to trigger and took washed out pics. I took it back and just tried the 3rd one. It is extremely slow to trigger just like the 2nd but it does take pics. i am taking it apart as I write to see if I can improve it cause if I can walk up within 4 ft before it goes off then it is worthless to me. There may be a reason wmart doesn't sell them anymore. Good luck with whatever you buy.

Are they the in the ear type or the one that wraps around the ear?

Thanks, I look forward to hearing what kind they are.

Scouting cam???????
105Coues replied to gonhntn's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I think there are some good and bad Moultries. I have one that takes great pic,s and a lot of them so I bought another and it was garbage. It wouldnt' take very many pic's and the ones it did were washed out. If you can get a working one I do think it is a good deal. I am trying a replacement now and my fingers are crossed. -
I am there!

The bucks are probably there too. I agree with setting up a camera to see what's there. Set your salt in a good hunting spot, i.e. by a place you can hunt from a tree stand and think about the prevailing wind for that area in your in. Good Luck

I am looking for advice on fixed blade broadheads that pattern well at 60 or 70 yards. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is there any elk in this unit? I drew a Sept 16th archery hunt and now I am hearing how bad it is. Tell me it is not true.
-
I struck out on the Coues but I did draw a late archery tag in 23 for elk. Can anyone give me some ideas on where to start looking. i am not sure how many scouting trips I can make at $3.00 a gallon for gas. I appreciate any input I can get. THX

Awesome pic!! I had a close encounter once when I thought it would be neat to take a picture of one I saw cross the highway. Would you believe he laid there waiting for me and I finally saw him at about 30 feet. He was crouched down with his ears laid back and tail twitching. SCARED the CRAP outta me. I had a 9mm but I thought if I shot him with it he would really get mad so I chose to keep it ready in case he attacked so I could off myself before the pain got to bad. We had a stand off for a few minutes and then he finally left.

That's got to be a purebred hound. LOL

It would sure be nice to use our tax money on saving the wildlife instead of the illegals. Isn't it funny how AZ caters to the felons that cross the border illegally.

I think the G&F Dept will clear this whole age thing up in a few months when they send the age results to Firstcoues. Lions do keep they stripes on the inside of their front legs. I have killed to mature toms and both have them. the younger of the two they aged at 6 years. I have to confess that I didn't know the sex of my first one due to the "hidden package" until a friend pointed out the nards. Well that's my .02.

Can anyone tell me of their experiences with shooting Coues at 400+ yards with a 22 cal bullet. I am interested in the bullet used, caliber of rifle, and how it performed. My nephew used my 223 and shot his first deer with it. At 230 yards, the bullet went completely through the deer and it jumped once and fell over. I was really impressed with that and it got me wondering how it would do at even longer ranges if required. THX

Long range 22 cal. bullet results on Coues
105Coues replied to 105Coues's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Thanks for the input. I usually use my faithful 300WM so I can reach out there with confidence. My nephew had just turned ten when he used it and I am prepping myself for when my kids are old enough. It will shoot sub MOA five shot groups at 400 yards so the accuracy is awesome. My nephew shot his with a plain old PSP but I want to try the Boattails for the extended range ballistics advantage. My seven year old shoots this rifle and does so very well for her age. -
Congrats!! Every puddy tat is an awesome one. You may want to consider the lifesize though, I was going to do a rug with my first cat and the taxidermist talked me into a lifesize. Its a lot of money but I could kiss him for the advice.

Good ol' Nosler BT's work out of my 300WM. You may get some shock damage but a little meat is better than missing and not having any at all. These bullets are deadly accurate. However, I would not use them on elk sized game.

That is a fine oinker Sam!!!! Congrats on a successful hunt.

Prime coues area being developed
105Coues replied to Huntin'AZ's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
This does suck as does every foothills development. However, at least this should get rid of the archery/shotgun only area and it will go back to the 1/4 mile rule. I was sitting on the west ridge above Saddlebrook glassing when the first bulldozers came into that valley years ago and I was devastated. I guess it isn't my idea of progress. It really does amaze me how years ago the county wouldn't let these developments happen due to the fact there was not sufficient water. Now we are a corrupt enough society that they don't care if we have any water or not. -
I feel the same way. It is hard for me to justify spending the money for the same caliber buck one can kill in AZ. Congrats on some fine bucks!!
