who does there own gunsmithing?
STOMP442 replied to deserthntr's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
It's easily done and the pam cooking spray is essential. Another trick is adding a piece of scotch tape to the front of the recoil lug. It makes for a tight fit but not so tight that you can't get the action out. Scotch tape along the bottom of the barrel and using sand paper around the barrel works good for floating barrels as well. -
Good stuff for sure.

Anyone shooting/loading the 6.5 284?
STOMP442 replied to soazarcher's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
The 140 Berger would be the best hunting bullet going if you can get it to shoot. The Bergers can be a bit tricky to get to shoot right but if you are patient and try different seating depths as well as powders you will find a combo they like and they will like it allot. -
Is the rifle bedded and the barrel free floated? Doing this can increase accuracy significantly. You may have a sweet load going and external forces on the barrel from the stock may be causing your groups to open up a bit.

Posting these items for my brother. We are located in Safford so buyer pays shipping or works out a meet and greet someplace. PM me for his contact info. Badlands 4500 Hunting Pack. Used on one deer hunt practically brand new. Turns out this pack is designed for someone over 6 feet tall and since he is fairly short it doesn't fit him right. $200 Next is a 2004 Honda Rancher 400 4X4 $3000

Yep Trents my bro.

Might need to try a different powder. Try using a powder with a faster burn rate and see what that does. I have good success with IMR4350 IMR4064 and Ramshot Hunter.

Man Aaron that is a nice buck. He's gonna look awesome on the wall buddy.

Anything you can do with a 300 Ultra you can do with a 30-06. It may not get there as fast or hit as hard but the deer will be just as dead.

Thanks for the replies guys they are much appreciated. Now for more info about my rifle. Savage model 110 originally chambered in .270 was re barreled to a Adams & Bennett 24" barrel in .250. The Action is bedded and the barrel free floated. Trent lightened the trigger down for me to about 2 pounds and is real crisp. Trent made me some custom brass out of some .308 lake city match cases and the rest is history. This thing is honestly the most accurate gun I own. Load Data: 32.2 grains IMR 4064 115 grain Berger VLD Lake City Match cases CCI large rifle primers 5 shot average Velocity of 2,816 fps -
