    " Coues " Pronunciation

Almost everywhere I hunt there are cattle. So if while glassing I told someone "I got cows." They'd think I was telling them about cattle not coues.

Stunningly beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Well, I'm known to be on the small side. Finding camo clothes is most frustrating, not only for lack of it but when you do find it it is costly and usually "very dark in color". Where ever there is camo I check it out whether it's women's, men's or youths'. If it fits, I get it whether I need it or not. Some of the items I have are from the youth section so don't forget to look there. I, too, like lots of pockets. I would love to have all of the following items in one set camo pattern but find it close to impossible in women's line: pants with lots of pockets, cotton short sleeve t-shirt with large pocket, long sleeve cotton t-shirt with large pocket, and a long sleeve, collared, button up shirt with 2 front pockets. Oh yes, the women's t-shirts are often too short. Better to buy mens'. When I first started hunting I use to buy mens' camo. Back then you could find mens' camo clothing in size small. Now a days it's hard to find men's camo in a "small" size. They skip small and start at medium. Oh yes, don't buy your wife any one piece coveralls without talking about it first. I never understood these for women. MOST IMPRACTICAL when taking care of business when out in the field.

    Yellow ferret in the woods?

I've been known to have that kind of luck too. Hopefully you'll have another opportunity to catch this little guy/gal. I've really been looking forward to the results of this mystery.

    Big Lake Road

Was there last weekend and the flag man told us the road will be paved all the way to Big Lake. I, like others who have posted here, would prefer the old washboard road. We have seen so much wildlife on this road. I wonder just how fast people are going to drive this road once it is paved. Drivers' speed once paved will be problematic.

    Overnight Camera Set Up

Attached are 2 trail camera photos. I know they may not be too exciting but too me they are very exciting. I only set up my camera when we are out camping. The first picture is from last year. I set out the camera right before dark and went to get the next morning. My husband kept trying to prepare me for the expected let down but I was thrilled to see I got something. I know he is hard to see but you can see the bull elk in there if you look closely. Now this year I did the same thing. I set the camera out on 4 nights, each night in a different place. Three of the nights I didnt get anything but one night I got some elk. I also got a deer on the same night but the photo is very blurry. It must have crossed directly in front of the camera. Because I got so excited when I found out I had caught something now my husband wants to go get me 3 or 4 more cameras so we can set more than one out a night. He said seeing my reaction when I saw that the camera got something was worth all the money in the world. I think just one more camera will be fine. I found a pond off the road thats pretty hidden and left my camera there. We will go back in a couple of weeks to go get. I cant wait.

    Overnight Camera Set Up

OK for my 2 week set up... it was dry up there so I was happy to find a small pond not seen from the road and in a place that no one really had a reason to walk back there. On the back bank of the pond was a single tree. Looked good to me so I set up there believing I would get things coming into the water or passing by in the small opening there. Well 2 weeks later-in walking up to the pond I could see the pond was much larger from all the rain and the camera was still there, just repositioned. Where I had it facing north it was turned to more northwest but still where it could catch things. Got some photos, not as many as I'd hoped. Though the camera was set up for 15 days I only had photos for 5 of those days. My placement of the camera turned out to be not as perfect as I had hoped. The animals spent a lot of time feeding right at the base of my tree and kept walking right smack as close as you can to a camera. In doing all of this I'm confident that is how the camera got moved. Over a 100 photos were taken but almost all are just up close photos of parts of the animals and many photos were just nothing but all white. Here are the best of what I got. Next weekend we will be taking our daughter to camp so I was given another opportunity to leave cameras out. I am now the proud owner of 3 cameras. There is a lot of water up there now so the cameras are set in small open areas, away from roads, in hopes something just might walk by. Chances are pretty slim but you never know

    Overnight Camera Set Up

Well this weekend we went to check my camera which I had set up 2 weeks ago. In checking the photos on the SD card I was surprised to find this photo where when I looked at 2 weeks ago, I must have only paid attention only to the foreground because I totally missed the background. Nice background surprise. That's what I get for checking the photos in the field. I did not see this until last evening in the hotel.

    Setting Up the Camera

Well... I'm very embarrassed. Problem is solved. My husband came home from work and I explained all my frustration to him. He asked to see the lock box...which I hadn't looked at yet. The lock box is so much better than my other one. With the new lock box you can lock it on a tree without the camera in it. Once locked to tree, open the lid on the top of the box, turn on the camera, set it in box, put lid back on and lock up the box. This setup will be so much easier than my old one. The lock cable goes through the holes in the new lock box quite easily, not near as difficult as my old set up. I'm now looking forward to using it.

    Setting Up the Camera

Ok, I just bought a new Bushnell camera. Quite different from my other camera. The one major thing is that the ON/OFFbutton is "inside the door" of the camera. My other camera has it on the outside of the camera. I'm not real quick at setting up the camera, getting the cable through the lock box (nightmare) & around the tree but I get it done after a long while. Been known to look at it once I get it up and not liking it and once again have to struggle with the darn cable and box getting if loose and resetting the camera. Once the camera is set the way I want it I THEN push ON button on the outside of the camera. So on my new camera it looks like I'll have to turn the camera on before I set it in the lock box, before I pull the darn cable through the lock box and before I get it on a tree. I'm figuring by the time I do all that I will have used up all the pictures with all the movement I did in just getting it up. Can someone tell me how they set up their camera when the ON button is inside the camera door? Or tell me what you know about setting up cameras that I obviously don't? Some photos showing me your set up with the cables to lock it in place may be helpful. I thank you in advance.
