I absolutely love bucks where their beams almost touch but I'm really digging that bottom buck. I'd be a big mess if the bottom two bucks were standing next to each other and I had to choose which one to shoot. Thanks for the coues candy!

Sounds like you had a good time chasing elk. Sorry you didn't get the outcome you wanted but a bad day elk hunting is always better than a day at electrical school and if it isn't then maybe hunting isn't your thing. Agreed. I've never felt I've wasted money going on hunt. Something like Disneyland on the other hand that's what I consider waste of money but don't tell that to my wife.

Glad to hear that this pic is real. Awesome looking bull on top of an awesome looking jeep. What's not to like?

5 Days into the Archery elk season. Giant bulls on the ground...

Great bulls! I missed this post the first go round so I'm glad it was brought back up. Hope we see some pics from him from this years hunts. -
Dang the bottom end on this bull is big. Thanks for posting.

You just made my day thanks man!

Sounds about right. I don't see any other reason why A3 and Cuernos would be teaming up to get this buck. A Huge congrats to whoever found this an incredible buck you did a good job finding a buck such as this and congrats to the guys who helped get him down. Also thanks to the shooter for spending his cash to help benefit our coues. Considering how much $$$ these tags usually go for when it comes to elk and muley I'd say the shooter got a pretty good deal. For the guys in the know is there any kind of story to this buck? Congrats again to everyone involved.

After thinking about it a bit more I realized my video probably doesn't accurately show how the unit is now days. The video was made back in 2004 back when 32 was quite a bit better coues unit IMO. The last time I hunted the unit was in 08 and between 04-08 I saw a huge decline deer numbers at least in the areas I was hunting. Since 08 I've heard it's only gotten worse. I don't want to sound too negative just more accurate then what my video may portray. Good luck on your hunt cowboyup24 and maybe let us know how it turns out if you get the time.

Thanks for the confirmation. With Long Hollow and now Rattle snake closed it could get a bit crowded in the few accessible areas left to hunt on the Klondyke side.

Here ya go cowboyup24 this might get you excited for your hunt. All of this footage came from 32. https://youtu.be/twiVjd_6nyI

Just a heads up heard rumors that Rattlesnake rd may be locked up. Can anyone confirm this? Sucks if this ends up being true. I use to love hunting 32.

How long do either of these two camos last from a year of hard hunting? A couple seasons?
-
Man this is very tempting. Good thing I don't live any closer or I'd be out $600. If this stays available any longer I might be making a trip to Mesa this weekend.

Agree with pretty much everything your saying .270 except for the ethical=legal logic. Here's another example as to why I don't agree that legal=ethical. Back in my younger days I knew of a group of guys that would kill at-least 1-2 big ol muley bucks every winter with their bows. The way they would do this is they would find the biggest ruttin buck they could find and get as close as they could until the buck would bust them. As soon as the buck busted them all 4-5 of them would start lobbing as many arrows at him as they possibly could hoping that at least one arrow would connect and slow the buck down. One year they said they had 3 arrows in a huge 7x8 but never got him. While these guys were in their legal right to hunt in this manner I would hardly call it ethical. Ethical=legal is a good guideline to follow but this shouldn't be the only factor in determining ones ethics.

Great story with a great buck! Really digging the character of this buck. Big time congrats man! Thanks for sharing.
-
It's also legal for a guy using archery equipment to shoot at a deer running strait away from him at 200 yards so according to the ethical=legal logic then said action would be defined as being ethical. (Ethical=legal)=false.

Not much more to say that hasn't been said already. Congrats man! Any coues with a bow is a tough task but a 130+... That's just insane!!! Did you happen to get any video of him alive?
-
Heck of a buck to get with your bow! Congrats! I agree with a few others in saying that your buck has some muley characteristics to it. I'm surprised to see no one has yet to call it a hybrid. If there was a time for one to call a deer a hybrid I would think this would be that time. Have you had the chance to do any measurements on the rack? I'd be curious to know how wide he is. Congrats again!

I remember watching this back when you first posted it. Love this bull! Great width with big tops. I have a feeling this is one of those bulls where his score won't do him justice at least in my mind. One of my favorite bulls I've seen in a while that's for sure. Sweet video thanks!

Heard the same thing while I was up there yesterday. Biologist told me that unfortunately the fungus has now spread from the antlers down into the trachea. The fungus has muted the elks vocal cords so bulls physically can't bugle and won't be able to bugle for at least the next 2 months maybe longer.

Say what now? Why do you think that? I'm all about posing the animal in favorable lighting, and with a nice scenic backdrop for the trophy shot. However, using an ultra wide camera lens to distort the relative size of the antlers and/or "long arming" the trophy shot looks so far unnatural looks tacky. Going extreme like this tends to take away from the glory of the animal rather than add to it. It draws attention to the tackiness of the photographer or whoever set the shot up and makes it more about them than hunting and conservation. Sorry to derail a discussion but its my belief that if certain behavior isn't called out that you'll get more of it and it gets legitimized over time. And that's "Just my opinion." Ok cool. I misunderstood your original post. When you mentioned editing I thought you were referring that the photo had been photoshopped to make it look bigger. Heck of a buck even if the pic is a bit deceiving.

Thinking about buying half a cow. Currently have a guy offering me half a cow for $6/lbs butchered and fully packaged. Is this a fair price? Any of you that are familiar with the ins and outs of buying half cow` that are willing to share some info please feel free in doing so. Thanks!
-
Thanks for the info guys. I don't know much about the cow/cows this guy is selling. I'll have to ask him more questions about it tomorrow but sound like I might have to pass at $6/lbs. All I know right now is that he's getting it butchered somewhere in Wilcox. Thanks again!
