  1. Well said. You're a class act. People can disagree without being disagreeable. Passion is good but civility is important too. Especially nowadays. Thank you for your kind words, I don't think any situation like this should come between any opportunity to make a friend or hunting partner, especially one so passionate for our way of life.
  2. Please don't misunderstand my actions or words. My position on this situation is simply to much destruction for the amount of jobs created. I have CDL experience and could possibly get one of those jobs but I don't think I could go to work every day and see the vastness of the destruction created with the potential for long term damage the the water shed.
  3. I'm sure if they didn't have the necessary permits your friends at the Center for Biological Diversity and the other enviro wacko groups will be filling another lawsuit at taxpayers expense. Lets get one thing straight those groups aren't my friends, pals, or even acquaintances. Just because their agenda is the same as mine doesn't put us in the same category or even in the same canyon. Now having said that, I understand your position, good jobs although for a few. Lets not let this situation make us enemies as we both love hunting and the environment we live in. We are just on opposite sides of the fence. Happy hunting to you and yours.
  4. Ok besides the eye sore there is a great possibility of irreversable damage to the water table and the enviroment in general. The risk is too great to let this mine go any further than they already have. One question I have is did they have the necesary permits to clear the land they have already? Seems to me if they haven't gotten the permits to start mining why, have they cleared so much land? ALL IS IMHO.
  5. This "victory" might be a good thing in your perspective but it isn't in mine and many others. That area has been hunted by my family for over 40 yrs. With the mine there all we have is a huge eye sore that doesn't really benefit us as a whole. The amount of jobs created by the mine doesn't even come close to the devastation that will never be repaired. IMHO

    ADA statement

Amanda I must admit I am ignorant to these orgs. but I do understand what the bill was about. I will not be able to attend the meeting so this is my say, pls forward to meeting. If they think they can deal with this situation without the input of the people that would have been impacted the most by the passing of it they are sorrily mistaken. Very disappointed to hear of the non-communication by them. Hard to support when they don't trust the very people they represent. Thank you for your time Stephen Forrest

    Shame on you

Not to poke a hole in your opinion but, Olympic archers in my day used competition long bows shooting at yardages out to 90 meters and scoring close to a perfect score. When I was on the college team it didn't matter if there was wind we still shot! As far as the weight of my arrows, my carbon "straws" weigh 414 grains and have enough kinetic energy to get full penetration of a coues at 80 yards. You should really get to know the type of equipment we "modern" hunters use before you bad mouth it or the abilities we posses. We always try to get as close as we can. I killed my last coues at 45 yards and was at 38 yards with no shot last January. HAVING SAID THAT I BELIEVE IT IS TIME TO END THIS POST AND CALL IT A DAY, WE WILL NEVER AGREE!!!!!!!!!! :(

    Javelina Sausage

If you have as much pride in what you make or do it really isn't hard work. It's a labor of love. I usually only make hamburger out of my scraps at 20% beef fat to the lean deer or javi meat. Great for spaghetti or Chile. :D

    finds of 2011

 Good question, for some reason I cracked up when I read it. Just finished reading about treestand poachers and needed some levity. So, did you find the knife too? Ya my son found it scouting in nov.

    finds of 2011

I wish it was but I think it isa small Arizona longhorn. That horn is the only one I have found in around 20 years of walking the hills of southern Arizona. My favorite is the fox skull, it has a small hole on the back of the head, possible a 22 cal. hole.

where in the world is the coues

That second pic was at high noon in Aug. He was at the top of the canyon and I was at the bottom. It took me 31/2 hours to get within 90 yrds when i reached a three foot wide three foot deep rut. He blew at me as I tried to cross it, he was gone. The last pic he was in some of the thickest cat-claw he could find with three does down wind of him.

    Shame on you

That is what we were taught when we took hunter safety class!

    Shame on you

Desertdog, I guess Iam invisible to you as my words were the hardest of everybody, why pick on Sundevil and 270 alone don't I rank in you opinion. What they and others have said is what we all "ethical" hunters want to say to people that can't see for the trees then complain about it.

    Shame on you

desertdog, I hear where you're coming from but don't down our CWT members for defending our state of AZ. You're ashamed of everyone of the Cwt members especially sundevil and .270, REALLY? You're right, this dude might just want to get a debate started but we as CWT members have a right to defend ourselves. Yes, don't feed the troll, but don't tell us you are ashamed of us CWT members for standing up to this NM hunter. Just saying! TJ +1, Good post TJ. Desertdog, no offense, but I don't think this was an anti trying to stir up trouble, and I agree with you that generally the best way to deal with someone dropping in and tossing verbal grenades is just to ignore them. That said, I don't think anyone has been out of line in pointing out that these attacks were unjustified and that while we all have our bad apples, it's uncalled for to attack an entire group of hunters (who you don't even know) based on a single experience. Tj, Coach thanks for you posts! There comes a time when standing-by just doesn't cut it. When this joker started this i had to say enough is enough. I felt compelled to put this guy in his place, having done that it is time to end this post as he is unwilling to play anymore. Again; Thanks for your support and good hunting.

    Shame on you

Elkhunter1, Guess you missed the point. A little spankin and then a hug I thought my first post was the spankin and I was appoligising to our fellow LEGAL hunters and CWTers, not the a-hole that started this!
  23. Elkhunter1

    Shame on you

Sorry fellow CWTers and Arizonans, I get real defensive when people poke at me and other good hunters without looking at themselves first. I don't use this forum to bash the "group." If I see someone doing something wrong then I go to them not everybody!
  24. Elkhunter1

    Shame on you

LOL!! While I do indeed expect hunters to follow the law and not drive quads off road or leave trash at campsites, I certainly see it all the time and it's very dissapointing. This post raises the issue and I am glad to see that but blaming all AZ hunters? really? I pretty much always come home with more trash than I started with because it's my opinion that I should leave a place in better condition than I found it whenever possible. I hope a lot of you do the same because we can't completely control what others do but instead can control what we do to help the situation. Thats right Amanda! In the Arizona Hunter Safety Course we are taught to leave it better than we found it. During last years scouting I humped two sleeping bags left behind over a mile back to my truck. NOT EVERY ARIZONA HUNTER IS A SLOB!!!!!!! DON'T LUMP US ALL TOGETHER, YOU JUST MIGHT GET LUMPS FROM SOME OF US THAT RESPECT THE LAND. your duty to the land is to report what you see and pick up what you can! I have filled the back of my toyoya with the trash of others. DON'T TRASH ALL HUNTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
