    Hunting other states

I think Utah has the easiest online draw system but I figure I just buy a ten dollar raffle ticket for each critter in that state. New Mexico is pretty good as well, too bad you have to buy a hunting license their this year. I rank AZ online system above Colorado and Wyoming. Wyoming is the worst in my opinion. Also with point creep in Wyoming the general tag took above 2 points for 100 percent draw odds in the regular draw.

    7mm rebarrel

The 28 nosler is getting tempting just the brass is a little on the spendy side. But you gotta pay to play sometimes and you get cool points. Lance you are right about finding RL26, I am down to my last lb of it. I use it in my .270 and 6.5 SAUM. I found some at powdervalley but I didn't jump on it and its gone now. I am used to large powder charges with my .300 wby. 10Turkeys I used Hoppes copper terminator on the barrel but it didnt improve the accuracy at all. Gonna wait till the elk results come out anyway. Might have to upgrade the muzzleloader first.

Half ton to diesel and Ford vs Chevy

Just my two cents on this heavily debated topic. I have had a 2015 dodge 1500 eco diesel, 2016 F250 with 6.7l and currently a 2019 Ford f250 with the 6.2 gas. 75 percent of my driving is on the highway with the other being on rough dirt roads with a welder and tools in bed. I average 10k a month. I hated the dodge besides the mileage and interior, I got around 20 mpg but that truck had no balls and being worried about engine issues I traded it in for an 6.7 at 75K. I didn’t have any issues with the powertrain at that time. The 6.7 had much better power but I average 13 mpg with the welder. I put a leveling kit and 35” tires on it and it wreck my front end. Had to keep replacing brakes and it wore out my front end. I replaced the shocks several times and ball joints twice. I deleted the truck after my warranty ran out at 100K. It ran like a striped ape after that. I traded it in at 175k with an oil leak, transfer case leaking and a shot front end. I currently have the 6.2 gas and have no problems with it but I only have 30K on it. I average 11.5 with the gasser. I plan on keeping this one stock. I don’t tow anything more than any ½ ton could do but the 6.2 sucks down the gas with an 8k trailer.

    Factory 28 nosler suggestions

For around 1k you can get the browning xbolt heck canyon, christen arms mesa and Montana rifle company in 28 nosler. The browning comes in 1;8 twist to stabilize the berger 195 EOL if you want to go that route other wise the other ones will send the 180s screaming down the barrel just fine. I have been looking at the Seekins Havak in 28 nosler but on sale its 1800. Not a lot of options for a factory 28 nosler around 1k that I know of. Plenty of sub 1K rifles in 7mm mag though. If you are looking at shooting longer ranges the .284 caliber has much better bullet options with higher BC then the .277 caliber. Berger offers a 170 EOL bullet in the .277 but I think you need a faster twist rate then what factory .270 wsm comes with. I reload for the .270 and .270 wsm and I stick with the 140 class bullets.
  7. Somebody please buy this sweet deal. I am fixing to come into Tucson this week, not sure if I can withhold this rifle.

    Shot a buck

I think its a good pattern for the desert, you can find it next to the deer corn at the gas stations down here. I never saw it when I lived in AZ but I think you can even get a license plate here. Not sure why you need camo for sitting in a blind on over corn but what ever makes people feel good I guess.

    Shot a buck

Nice buck and shirt, only see that camo pattern running around down here in south texas.

    RTIC Cooler sale

That 145 is a tank, I filled mine up with frozen milk jugs and water bottles, after a ten day early elk hunt the milk jugs were still frozen. Plus when fully loaded its hard to steal.

I have these binos and I wish I paid this price with the adapter installed. Amazing deal for some great class, same level as ELs. Wish they made a 12x50

    Nosler LRAB

I have used the 168 LRAB in my 7 mag. I have taken three elk and one coues deer with them. None have been long range, all the elk under 250 yards and the coues was 350. No problems with the bullets themselves, all one shot kills in the lungs. Two elk and the coues dropped in their tracks while one elk went about 20 yards and tipped over. I used RL 22 and was getting 2850 fps. A little slow but with .5 moa at 100 yards from the bench, I was happy with that load.

    Solo Rifle

I guess if I had one rifle for AZ it would either be a 28 nolser or 7 STW loaded with the 195 bergers. I would trust that combo to be deadly in every situation in the lower 48. I dont have this combo myself. Just waiting to burn out my 7mm barrel to rechamber it. I know it would be a little over kill for coues but perfect for elk in my opinion.
  19. You are correct, I miss read the hunt numbers. He did have the 33 muzzy hunt listed. I just dont see how he is going to prove that they had received the application before all the tags were gone.
  20. From what I understand you called AZGF and they said they hadn't received your application yet and on that date, what ever it might be, you checked with their updated online leftover list there were still tags available for that hunt number. Then you get the voided/ unsuccessful tag application in the mail, so they did receive but after all the tags were filled. How do you know they received your application before all the tags were gone? The date stamp on the letter is from the post office not GF. I am also assuming you used the convenient blue pre-addressed envelope which is to a different address then what GF instructs you to mail left over applications to which can also cause delays. Also on your previous post about this, you claimed to have put in for the 33 muzzleloader hunt and this picture of your hunt number choices doesn't show 1184.

    Leftover results

So did you pick a hunt down south? Yes, but I always hunt down south. Couldnt get a December with my 6 points, maybe next year.

    Leftover results

I had to mail mine on Tuesday! But I sent it in from Texas. I got lucky and got my first choice. When I lived in Tucson, mailing them in Thursday morning always worked for me.

    Lightweight Riflescope

I pretty much have the same scope just a VX-3 not the I but in 30MM not the 1" and for the price range and weight I think it is the best choice for price to weight and you aren't going to be shooting 1k. The swaro Z3 and Z5 are also very light but they have a capped turret or that three position thingy. Not a fan. I like to dial the drop in easily. Also in 1" tube I believe with limited MOA adjustment and they are over the 500 budget. Better glass though. Vortex has the 3-15x42 Razor LH but I don't have any experience with them and they are a little more then the VX3. They are 16.5 oz with 55 MOA adjustment. The leupold vx-5 3-15x44 is 19oz and has 75 moa with a two rotation zero stop. I have seen them go for 700. I picked up a Ziess Conquest V6 3-18x50 with a nice turret and 103 moa adjustment at 22 oz. I really like the glass on them but it is a little heavier then a Leupold and more expensive. Those are all the scopes I researched in looking for a lightweight scope, I am sure somebody else has more information then I do

    WTB a lightweight hunting rifle

The kimber hunter is around 700 bucks on gun broker and they offer it in a 6.5 creedmore that I believe is around 5lbs 10 oz or something like that. They also have it in 280 ackley improved which can push the 168 bullets pretty good but it might be a little rough in a sub 6 lb rifle. The stock isn't the best looking but it is the same action and barrel as a kimber Montana if I remember correctly.
