Let's hear it vehicle options for momma ?
twigsnapper replied to Eagle mountain ranch's topic in The Campfire
There are a couple 2014 4runners on auto trader for just over 30k with 26k miles or less. They aren't loaded with leather but they are nice. I just bought a 2014 with 27k miles. I pulled my trailer with it yesterday and don't have any complaints so far. After all it's a v6. -

What type of insurance? I do lots of life insurance, disability and long term care within my financial planning business. I love the insurance piece because of what it provides to families when or if the disaster hits. The key is to align yourself with a good company that provides great products. I don't recommend going to a captive agency because you are forced to sell their product however they usually have the better training program which can be key when you are starting out. PM me we can chat more.

Yep, I always wondered how it could be corrected, been dealing with that for years with mine. Very nice solution!

I just had a new(rebuilt) motor installed. It's running good but the A/C is not working as well as I would like so it's time to let it go. I had hoped for it to be my hunting rig but it's time for a new home. You won't find a cleaner 1999 Yukon. 74,000 original miles, yep that's right, I have attached a pic of the carfax. It has pretty nice leather seats and rear air. It does not have the third row seat option. I am the 3rd owner. I bought it from a guy that flipped it to make a little money so really I am the 2nd owner. This would be a great car for someone but I have a hunt coming up that requires me to put a ton of miles scouting. Here is what I have done since I bought it 7 months ago. Brand new Michelin Tires - $900 Rebuilt Motor - $2000 1 year warranty Plugs, wires, cap - $120 New Radiator, motor mounts, tranny mount - $350 New Idler arm, Pitman arm - $300 New A/C compressor, accumulator, orfice tube, and expansion valve.( I did this myself and it's not bloing cold enough for me, it might be something simple, it might not) $450 3" block in the rear with New Shocks $120 Torsion keys in the front with new shocks $120 I am interested in trading toward a side by side; ranger, rhino or prowler. I'm in the northwest valley. Call or text me Andy 602-881-0610 $4,000

Two sheep tags double the fun!
twigsnapper replied to azdeserthunter's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Spend a little time learning about the system before we get into a huge debate when we don't know how it really works or how it benefits wildlife in AZ. There would be sheep in AZ without the raffle tags but there are tons of projects that couldn't get done or would take many more years to get done without the HPC funding. There are 3 tags for bighorn sheep 1 Rocky, 1 Nelsoni, and 1 Maxicana. Here is a list of projects funded last year for each species. http://www.azgfd.gov/w_c/documents/projectfundingforwebsite_000.pdf One tag was sold at auction this year and raised over $300,000 that can only be spent on bighorn sheep. The Rocky raised $180,000 too! Not sure what the # was on the super raffle. All the tags sold through the general draw for sheep only raise $40,000 for the tags and $200,000 in app fees. The HPC process is actually doing lots of good for hunters in AZ (rich and poor). -
Keep in mind it has only been this draw that the cards got charged less the 24 hours after the deadline to update. It used to take many days if not a week for charges to start showing up. Lots of issues can happen with credit cards that are not the fault of the card holder.

I have a nice AR setup for predator hunting. Seekins IRMT3 upper with SP3R 12" HandGuard, 18" Twisted Fluted Barrel, Hogan Lower, WMD Boron full auto BCG, 2 stage trigger, Ergo grip, Magpul CTR Stock. As u can see, its built fr good parts. it has a minox 3-9x50 A3 scope mounted on it. I've got a couple mags to go with it. Would like $1200 for the setup or $900 without the scope or rings. Grandpa's Springfield 1917 rifle rebuild, maybe 6.5-06?
twigsnapper replied to Zeke-BE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
WWGD? What would Gramps do.... I have a few old rifles from my grandfather. He always said either hunt with my rifles or give them to someone that will. I have a .17 Remington Model 700 that he bought in the early 80's and he did a bunch of carving and scroll work to the original wood stock. I was always too nervous to take it in the field cause I didn't want to scratch the stock. On that gun a bought a stock a swapped it out so I can coyote hunt with it. I will always keep the nice wood stock but I just feel better hunting with the synthetic stock that I don't mind scuffing up. I also have a 7mag he had custom built in the 70's that I chose to change the scope out to a modern scope that I was more confident in hunting with. Bottom line for me, don't get hung up on preserving it, go hunt with it. If it needs a scope, put one on it. If Gramps always talked about refinishing it, then do it. I wouldn't do much machine work unless it is necessary to get it safe and shooting good, when I went to a modern scope,42mm, I had to get new rings. -
I was camped off Schnebly Hill road and couple weekends ago and the camp site was an absolute disaster when we got there. 2 30 gallon garbage sacks later.... Our friends asked why I would cleans up someone else's trash and I just said, hunters get blamed for the mess and I couldn't just sit in camp and look at the garbage. It's very frustrating to see because you know the jerks that do this are teaching young kids to be jerks too. Bah!!!!

I've been hunting out of SUV's for years. Started with a 83 k5 blazer, had em all. Toyotas gm's.... I've had 3/4 ton Chevys 1/2 ton ford trucks and my most recent truck was a 2012 Tacoma. I prefer an suv over a truck cause it keeps my gear out of the elements and provides a good sleeping area on a quick trip when you don't want to setup a tent. It also keeps my dog cool in the summer when going on a scouting trip. I don't pull big trailers so SUVs are fine for me. My camper is 16' and my utility trailer is 10'. If you are serious about hunting and spend at least 5-10 weekends a year in the hills then get a 4x4. If you go less then 5 times a year then 2wd will probly suit you fine. I have never owned a 2wd so I have no experience off road with them. I do have a buddy that is extremely cheap and bought a 2wd dodge to save money and he is a pain in the butt to hunt with cause can't make it to many of our spots and if it gets wet out he's toast. We have to plan around his 2wd, don't be this guy if the budget allows. My biggest piece of advice is take care of your rig, do lots of preventative maintenance and if you can't afford the 4x4 now then upgrade later and if you take care of your stuff it sells for more when it's time to upgrade. I would recommend you get an suv on a truck frame. Something like a Tahoe or Yukon, sequoia or 4Runner(not truck frame but they are tuff). Do you need a truck no, does a truck allow for some conveniences and extra towing and cargo space, yep. The side by side behind the truck or suv is a good option but a good side by side can be as much or more then a good used suv.
