Here is a great video from Jay Scott and his guys. If you're by yourself then this is the way to go. Look on youtube for videos on "Indian quartering" as well. http://jayscottoutdoors.blogspot.com/2011/11/gutless-field-dressing-by-janis-putelis.html

This is a nice X Force dream season. It was my backup bow for elk season and now it needs a new home. Right handed, 60-70 lbs draw and is set at 28" draw length. String was changed about 1 1/2 year ago. Comes with SKB hard case, Copper John sight, Whisker Biscuit, Octane quiver, 5 arrows, peep, and stabilizer. This is a great deal, ready to shoot, or if you just want the bow I'll sell it bare for $350.00 Open to trades for nice Garmin Rino GPS, optics, fire arms, or other QUALITY sporting goods. Let me know you saw it on CW and I'll take $25.00 and donate it to CW.com. Text or email Andy 6O2-881-O61O

JKF Outfitters-Cabelas Out West AZ Elk Episode
twigsnapper replied to Jay Scott's topic in Jay Scott Outdoors/Colburn and Scott Outfitters
In a world where we all get caught up on inches, and points, it was awesome to see the true joy and exhilaration they had when she shot the spike. Wonderful to see!! Gotta love seeing grown men hug it out.. -
That's terrible to hear. No one loves you more than your dog, they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Someone should leave that neighbor in the backyard. Thanks for making that call.

Thanks Norsemen.

I'm in same boat. Same age, terrible astigmatism, same bad eyes. Hunting without glasses or contacts is not an option, my eyes are so bad I carry a spare pair of glasses in my pack. I fought the optics thing a long time. A long day of glassing in contacts is just about the hardest thing to handle once they start to get dry. My suggestion is to buy optics with a large eye relief so you can glass with your eye glasses on. I see signicantly clearer when looking though binos with my glasses on. Many binos will not adjust enough to phocus at long distances without my glasses or contacts in. 15x56 swaros are tough to get a full field of view with glasses on. My eyes feel much less strained when I keep my eye glasses on. I went with 8x42 vortex vipers and vortex Kaibabs. I do have a pair of 15 swaros but I strain to get a full field of view.

Full Disclosure: I picked these up on Ebay about a month ago only to make a little money on them. Here is the Ebay discription. This Pair Of Leica Duovid 10x15x50 Binoculars Are Used But Work Great. There Is A Scratch On One Of The Lens As You Can See In the Picture But It Can't Be Seen When Using Them Comes With A Shoulder Strap And Case Perfect For All Your Outdoor Activities My Description: I used them on my uncles antelope hunt in Unit 21 and really liked them. They have signs of use but work perfectly. If I keep them I will send them in to Leica and have them cleaned. The one lense I would have replaced would be the left oculars lens. It looks like to person I bought them from did not kow how to clean them properly. The other lenses are fine with normal signs of wear. New these are very high dollar. I will sell them for $1500.00. Call, text or PM me Andy 602-881-0610

Frustrated Archery Elk Hunter Any advice, words of wisdom
twigsnapper replied to RoughCut's topic in Elk Hunting
I hit a bull this year at 33 yards. Put it right behind the shoulder with a 125gr Montec G5. I hit him at night as well. We tracked him for 5 hours that night on our hands n knees and for 5 hours the next morning. He also stopped for a moment, bled all over a in about a 3 foot circle then went 310 feet and quit bleeding. He went 1.1 miles total. Sometimes is just happens. I find myself trying to tuck the arrow right behind the shoulder and I have had many guys more experienced them me say you're better off to hit them a little back. Sorry to hear you lost your bull. Many hunters will call BS on putting it too far forward but I proved it to myself this year. It's a horrible feeling losing an animal and it never gets any easier. We had a guy stumble into our camp the next day and he needed help with his bull. We helped him quarter it up and he had gut shot the bull which fell over dead 200 yds from being shot and had half the blood trail mine did. I never opened him up to see exactly what he hit but must have got liver or an artery. If you put pics side by side of where I hit mine and where he hit his, every archery hunter would point to my shot and say "dead elk". You're not alone. Andy -
Congrats and good humor

Solution to Water Hole Problems/Confrontations
twigsnapper replied to m77's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
On Sunday afternoon in 6B I went in to sit in my two man ladder stand that I packed 1 mile in off the road and at 3:30 in the afternoon there was another guy sitting in my stand and I could see a bull walking into the water hole 100 yards behind him!!! I was pissed off, seeing red, this guy is sitting in the 100lb stand that I packed in and about to shoot his elk right in front of me. So what did I do? Nothing, I quietly backed out and left the area because my wind was not good for the incoming bull and I didn't want to screw up the impostors chance. Even though I packed that dang thing all the way in myself. I hope someone would do the same for me. I would never sit in someone else's stand but I will hang one up right next to their's. You never know when someone is gonna shoot their animal opening day and not use the stand for the rest of the season. my 4 cents. Still bitter though....... -
Walk softy and keep your nose in the wind, good luck!!!!

Two nice dogs ---- FREE to good home
twigsnapper replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Classified Ads
CL is fine. You just need to meet the people and feel them out. I got our second dog Otis on CL and he lives a pretty darn good life. Had never slept on a bed before, now he's a couch potato. -
My uncle has a rifle tag and I was just wondering what to expect. I had a 21 archery tag a few years ago and had a couple nice bucks in the high 70's but couldn't close the deal. We have been out scouting a ton and haven't seen a single goat we believe will go over 75", and we've looked at a ton of bucks. Shooting a 14-15" buck isn't an issue. Just thought I'd pick your brains to see if any of you believe there are any B&C bucks out in 21 or if we should lower our expectations. Just haven't see one that screams "big buck". Any input is helpful, not looking for GPS coordinates. BTW if you're a 21 antelope tag holder and do want to shoot any buck or have a youth with a tag pm me. I grew up chasing goats in WY and would be glad to help out.
