I need a 4th Golfer to round off my 4some for this Sunday's ADBSS fundraiser. Check out ADBSS.org for details. Starts at 7:30 am and $75 covers everything and lunch. We are playing at The Arizona Grand. No, you don't have to be a good golfer, I certainly am not, we are just raising a little money and having some fun, and sweating too. If you want to put together your own 4some there are a few slots left. ADBSS.ORG

Ok so I just bought a Bear Attack bow on Ebay and was way excited until I realized its left handed and I am not. If anybody is interested let me know and I'll get you all the details. It's camo, 60-70lb and set @ 28", I am trying to get my money back @ $500 Andy 602-881-0610

Thanks guy, I bought it from an individual and they have no return policy. It's not huge deal, I can put it back on Ebay and get close to what I paid but I thought I would try to sell it local first. It is a real nice setup especially at this price, my buddy shoots the same bow which is why I bought it. Would also consider trades for quality outdoor gear.

rifle for a 11 year old girl
twigsnapper replied to 218buck's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
My wife rifle hunted her first elk a few years ago and she shot a .270 with no problem. She is 5'2" and 110lbs so she is not very big. Here is what I did though. I have a .17 Remington model 700 BDL and she practiced with that at first, then she shot the .270 which was also a model 700 BDL for the hunt. She was very comfortable handling the .17 before she ever handled the .270. I told her what I was doing and why so she didn't get nervous or freak out shooting the .270 -
I have the same delima, Last time I had an archery tag (2008) I told myself I would take the 2nd week off not the 1st only based on hunting pressure. Opening weekend has every Tom, Dick and Harry and their cousins up in the woods. Now, the moon schedule has me all discombobulated. I will tell you that there will be considerably less pressure during the week and toward the end of the season. I think I will take opening day off and hunt opening weekend, go home Sunday night and then return on the 2nd Friday and hunt the rest of the season. Will get 9 days in and might even get 9.5 if I can make it up early enough on the 2nd Friday. Just my theory and it could change if the hunting is spectacular the first weekend. I may get fired but I will have a heck of a story

I thought many of you would enjoy this write up. I follow Wade's blog and thought this might be good insight to the never ending binocular debate. http://hardcoreoutdoor.com/2011/01/29/best-15-power-binoculars---docter-swarovski-leica-vortex-and-zeiss.aspx Andy

You would have to email Wade the editor of the website. I just googled Air Force resolution chart and quite a few popped up though.

Just wondering if there were some good ideas for inexpensive treestand steps. I see some guys have just pounded stakes in the tree but I would like to be able to remove them after the season. I was wanting to have a couple different stands hung for backup elk spots and wondered if there were some good ideas on steps. Also what are you guys using for harnesses? Haven't sat in a treestand for 10 yrs. Thanks, Andy

We just adopted Otis, he is a 1 year old goldendoodle and he is a goof ball. I took him in the mountains for the first time and was like a kid in a candy store. He ran circles around camp for about two hours when we first got there. He lived in an 800 square foot apartment for the first year, poor dog. He also chased an antelope from a clearing and was gone for about 20 minutes in the trees but he showed back up at camp, thank goodness cause He's a cool dog. Rugby on the left, Otis on the right- waiting for their morning walk Otis left, Rugby right- on our way to Clints Wells for 3d shoot

Just a heads up there is a pair of 12x50 EL's on MonsterMuleys.com for $2100. If I had the cash I would snag em up. Andy

I would also consider trading quad toward fishing/bass boat or a smaller camper or popup trailer around 15-19'. -

Does anyone have input on the older model 12x50 Vortex Razors Vs the new HD models. Older models can be had for less then half the price. Any input is appreciated.
-
I have had the Vipers, Docters, SLC's and now the Kaibabs. The Docters are optically better then the non HD Vipers, however they are 44 ounces and the Vipers are 27 ounces. If you don't hike much and glass from the road get the Docters but if you walk lots by the Vipers. Both are very good optics. Some people are hard on equipment and others can use a set of binos for ten years an they still look new. If you tend to be tough on your equipment go with the Vipers. You can get a better deal on a used set of Vipers then you can on the Docters. I will say that it is a very good feeling knowing that if you send your binos tumbling down the hill Vortex is there to back them up. Let us know what you go with. Just a heads up checkout the classifieds, there is a used set of vipers there.

Just checked 720 total last year 595 bull 125 cow
-
I always look at the total tags, bull+cow, if I remember right they cut the archery cow tags back quite a bit. I had the hunt in 08, if had to do it over I and didn't have the full 2 weeks off from work I would hunt opening weekend, get a feel for the pressure from hunters, go home and come back for the 2nd week. 1/4 as many guys toward the end of the hunt.
