  7. Man, took the words out of my mouth. The argument that something is legal, and therefore should be beyond question, is the greatest detriment to hunting culture. I dont hate trailcams. I have them. I use them, primarily on water. But I can see why this has become an issue with AZGFD when I here of dozens of cameras on a single drinker, or see someone post a picture of hundreds of cams they put up on nearly all water sources in an area. To me, that practice is not above reproach and should be challenged and discussed. But as was stated above, trailcam use is not the heart of the issue. The fact is, hunting methods and technology continue improving while habitat and environmental conditions continue to decline. Hunter recruitment per capita also continues to decline each year. That should be enough to tell you that hunting practices are going to be challenged, legislated and restricted. Most of the people using the woods are not hunters and go there for other reasons. Our practices on shared public lands also need to be evaluated through the lense of non-hunter recreationalists who will encounter them. They may not want to see trailcams, tree stands, blinds, and salt licks littering the forest when they are enjoying their chosen recreation. Just the same we have to consider each other when hunting or preparing to hunt, we also have to consider those who are also there but not hunting, and their vote counts, literally. Should they ban trailcams on waterholes? I dont know. It certainly puts a damper on my experience. Is it the best thing for the sport, thats a different question. But one things for sure, if we keep pushing the limits on acceptable practices, eventually someone will come in and set the terms for us. Trailcams are a good example.

    Ever seen this javelina preparation?

Never seen that on a Hippolina before. But when I prepare one I typically do all I can to ensure the hide and hair come of quickly and do not come into contact with any of the meat. So to me leaving the hide on is counterintuitive. What did he do about the scent gland on the back? And does the carcass still stink like a typical javelina? Interesting. Let us know how it turns out.

    Pig tags

Do they even do field surveys on pigs?
  10. Using boots and binoculars takes a lot of time money and effort also.Hahaha so you think if you run cams you don't need to also do those things? That's hilarious. Yeah that's how cams work, when you find a deer it waits at the cam for weeks till hunting season and you can shoot it This guy isnt attacking your means and methods, you are attacking his. Just because someone doesnt put out cams doesnt mean they are a lazy slob who doesnt want to put in time and effort. Take a chill pill, we know you got em.
  11. Can they though? How would they prove it was to aid in the taking of wildlife?

    1 Day!!!

Well since I had a tag last year and I only have 2 pts I think I will just go hunt if I get drawn. I really dont see a reason to PG to save 1 point unless I just cant go. Who knows maybe it will be a dry year and i can smoke a stud on water.

    How bout them Devils!

Ha! I love the immediate reaction by U of A fans, criticize the FBI doing their job. Yes, the FBI has been proven to be a joke on several massive national security issues. Regardless, this was their job to do, and they did it. Miller is a crook and now the world knows it. Bad year for U of A fans. Good news coming, ASU hired Herm Edwards and will soon be the laughing stock of the conference. Should be fun following the Miller trial and a 3-9 ASU team next year.

    2019 OTC ELK

All though Timberline is very successful on the OTC hunts, I would say that is far from the experience OP expressed interest in. NM landowner tags are intriguing, but with new hunters I kind like of like the thought of having someone else helping dad and the brother.

    2019 OTC ELK

Idaho has lots of OTC options for deer and elk. If you arent afraid of grizzlies then the Island Park zone has decent elk numbers. There are a number of other areas with plenty of elk, just dont expect an AZ like rut. Its just not the same, but it wont be in any otc hunt. Nice thing about ID is that archery deer and elk overlap.

    What Set-up for Triclawps?

You might shoot Whtmtman a PM. He has a big Bogen or something he uses to lock down his triclawps. It looks atrociously heavy but if you already have a 14 lb rifle ... maybe you are tougher than me.

    Coues hunter or Coues Sniper?

I'm not saying that this post is set up by an anti hunter or whatever, but I've always wondered if anti hunters ever try to come on this website with new accounts and try to knock hunting in a negative way without saying it. ive called it a few times on here. In a similar spirit to this comment, if we continue to improve the methods of taking game, but dont have anyway to increase the renewable resource of game animals, then arent we bound to hunt ourselves out of opportunity. Aldo Leopold compared this to improving a pump without improving a well. Eventually you will run out of water. I also disagree with the argument that just because a method of take is legal, that it should be embraced by the hunting community. Another Leopold quote was that Ethics were doing the right thing when no one was looking, even when the right thing might be legal. The North American model of wildlife management is based on these principles and the principle of fair chase. Fair chase is also a foundational principle for both P&Y club and B&C. In the past, hunters policed themselves and carried the burden of defining acceptable practice. Today that sentiment has changed greatly. We regularly see comments stating essentially if its legal, dont question it. Perhaps we should be questioning more things amongst ourselves instead of squashing debate. Perhaps we should not declare that our actions are beyond question simply because they are beyond prosecution. Maybe we owe it to ourselves and to future hunters to have the conversation. people kill shoot illegally now just to get likes from strangers on the internet. Ok, whats your point?

    'Stink Pigs'

Actually, the word "javelina" has nothing to do with javelins or spears, or even Mexicans. It stems from the Spanish word for the European wild boar, "jabali." The Spanish conquistadores who first encountered the collared peccary in the New World long before there was a Mexico added "ina" to indicate they reminded them of small wild boars. English-speakers often have trouble with Spanish words that contain a B and tend to pronounce them as if the B was a V, which resulted in a "jabalina" becoming known as a "javelina." Bill Quimby This is correct^^^ Good to see you approve. I am sure Bill will sleep better tonight knowing he got a nod from the great Czar of The Peccaries. Hey Gut Shooter! We're trying to have a civilization over here! If you have nothing productive to add, go waste some more meat/life and post about it on social media... Ya TB. Youve been here like 10 minutes so ease up on your holier than thou BS. And if you think CWT is civilized, you are showing your ignorance.
