yeah theyre so easy to get up on and a clear shot that everyone shoots 370 bulls Size of a trophy has zero impact on shot selection. The number of 370 bulls has more to do with the number of 370 bulls around than the difficulty of stalking rutting elk.

This year has realized that on elk, I don't really see a reason to take questionable shots. It's not that hard to get close, and they move enough that getting a broadside shot most of the time is a matter of patience. I could have taken head on or facing away shots at close range, but didn't really see a reason to. There are enough other things that can go wrong, why risk a bad angle.

Already got him cleaned up and on the wall. My brother in law was kind enough to get him set up for a temporary hook. Going to try this for a while and decide if I want to do a shoulder mount.

Sounds like a great experience. I know how that can be dragging the wife through the woods chasing bugles. It definitely tests a marriage.

Kind of need an angle to expose the femoral artery. I always wondered if one right up the old whazoo would work with a bow. But that one missed both marks. A straight away shot with a bow is not a shot. And even one to the inside of a ham isn't a shot anyone should take except as a follow up.

Not hard to guess how that one happened. Sucks.
