Everyone I know with a 3a3c early archery tag killed a bull.

Typical U of A liberal entitled perspective. Compare apples to oranges, call both a potatoe.

Weird all the picked on kids I knew in school turned into internet trolls.

Oh, the other thing that helps is that we have no video games in our house. None. Zero. They are a waste of time, thought and stunt cognitive development.

You are doing fine. Being a parent is frustrating. And now when I look back on my teen years, I passed up a lot of hunting opportunities to do other stuff, and I was a die hard. I always loved hunting, but I also loved my gf, hanging with my friends, sports and hobbies. I had some good tags that I wish Now I had made better use of, and Some that I think I shouldn't have had such high expectations for. If he is showing any interest, let him foster more of it and give him tons of positive reinforcement. Kids thrive on that.

I work with a lot of youth and have kids of my own, thoughnot yet hunting age. Right now when my kids are young sometimes I tell them they are coming even if they don't want to, because it's time with Dad. Most often I let them choose, and they usually choose to come. However with the teenagers I work with, they almost all get to a point with their parents that they want to make their own decisions and say no to some things. Sometimes it has nothing to do with interest and a lot more to do with independence. My experience tells me that when their reach for independence becomes a power struggle, no one wins. Let the kid say no from time to time. After all, it's recreation, and make the most of the times he says yes. You will both win.

I'm sorry. Peace to you and your family. I dread the day.

That depends. With a good amount of snow that hunt can be really productive. Without, well that's a real expensive site seeing trip.

Dang archers have ruined it for the rifle and ML guys. Oh, and all those houses they built in Prescott Valley. Congrats on a great buck!

Brother in laws first bull (video link added)

Awesome bull -
You should have a fun hunt with lots of bugling. A couple of downsides are 1) Close to 90 good bulls from the unit will be dead before you start. 2) Moon phase is brighter than most of the other archery hunts.

I say the opposite. Get in the Junipers and glass. Leave the pines, I bet $100 he has been in the white horse hills.

Ok guys, we are down to days left before the archery opener. I am getting my bag packed and my boots tied tight. What's your last minute advice? Easily forgotten gear recommendations?
-
In camp, ready for the bugles to begin!

Boom, just like that it's rubber on asphalt. See you gents in 55 days!

Go get em boss! I put the broadheads on last night. Got a few butterflies when I tightened them up.

Is 3 pairs of boots too many?

How many days are you archery elk hunting for??
Flatlander replied to twigsnapper's topic in Elk Hunting
I leave tomorrow and have no plans to return until the hunt is complete. It's amazing to see how many folks take the whole hunt off these days. As a kid I can remember the woods being empty during the week. -
One more before I head to the mountains. Not that I am sleeping much with all of the good luck texts and pics from buddies who are out. Tic toc...

Nice. Buck, congrats. Ugly hat.

Prayers needed for my son and family in Florida
Flatlander replied to SO I HUNT's topic in Prayer Requests
So did they choose to stay or did they have to for some reason? That sounds like a crappy situation. Definitely will keep them in our prayer.
