I am not saying I've never shot an animal in the back leg, but I certainly haven't ever aimed there.

you ever hunt around those noisy bastards? i can understand wanting to kill them lol His punishment should be having to hunt burro's only till everyone of them in the state is gone.

Headed out Wednesday afternoon. Work is killing me, it's going to be a rough weekend instead of being a final scouting session. But the forecast I saw shows a temp drop just before next Friday. Hoping that gets them going a bit more than they were last time I was up. I can't believe it's almost here. I have butterflies almost like before a wrestling match or a big test.

Does anyone else wish they would still fix stuff? Like what if that dude really liked THAT spotting scope? It just feels a little bit to me that craftsmanship is becoming a thing of the past as we gravitate towards being a disposable society supplied by crappy Made in China products.

Tomorrow we start our hunt. Years in the planning and it's about to become a reality. Stay tuned for pics.

What's the deal with Chaka? Is it free range private land? High fence? -
What good is a site when you won't even tell me where the elk are...

Oh man, bringing back some good memories here. Basically, we had one of the better antelope units in WY during one of the better years. I went with a buddy who had never shot an antelope before. I was steadfast about not shooting the first day and letting him have his pick. We looked over goats all day. And finally about 2 hours before dark we pulled through a gate into a new area and right below us was a big mature buck with horns that curled straight back. My buddy tried to get on him and we started playing cat and mouse. Eventually we rounded a knob and there was a buck staring at us with horns that went straight back. My buddy decided it was time and dropped the hammer. As soon as his buck hit the dirt, the buck we had been chasing came out from behind the knob with about 20 other goats. They were milling in and out of the sagebrush. My buddy and his father in law start telling me now is your chance, shoot him. I took the rifle and found him in the scope just as he walked into some tall sage. He started to emerge and I could see the black throat patch. I started to squeeze and next thing I knew there was a cloud of white hair. Then we watched the big buck disappear into the sunset. I choked. It was sickening. I was utterly disgusted with myself.

You are going to regret this. 😀

What to expect on unit 10, Sept 8th Antelope hunt

Good luck tomorrow! -
I stumbled on a couple of dudes who were deer hunting this weekend while I was scouting for my elk hunt. I had my kids with me, we were being noisy, one of them slammed the truck door. We turned to head up onto a glassing knob and these two dude's are staring back at me. They had hiked in to glass from this knob, even though a road went right to it. I felt bad and wanted to find a way to make it up to them, so I climbed the knob to see if I could offer any help or advice or anything else. They weren't happy and were not what I would call friendly. But I don't know what else I was supposed to do. Good news was that on the way back to the truck my kid caught a horny toad.

Awesome bull!

Here is a question, how many arrows/broadheads do you guys take on a two week hunt?

Good call. A week after my CC was hit for the tag I seperated my shoulder snowboarding. I don't need another rehab assignment.

You trying to kill me? I am allergic to nuts. Just remembered to add epipen to my list. I don't believe you. You've been hanging out on this site for years and there are plenty of nuts here! Glad you remembered the epipen. Epipens are like guns. Better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it. I've needed it before and didn't have it. If I didn't live within minutes of the hospital I'd be dead.

Get north of hutch and glass. Should be pretty easy.

Horses need to die. Just the feral ones. This is what happens when emotion rules over science in conservation.
