I think the auction and raffle bulls are often velvet because many of the hunters see what is found during the first 6 weeks of their hunt and if they don't fill the tag they do like this and wait as late into the next year as possible. If memory serves me correctly there is still a raffle tag out there that is good until 8/14 as well. It's sort of a vicious cycle because only a handful of guides end up guiding these tags and so now that one outfit is trying to kill 2 400" bulls right now, it's tough to find another one before the archery hunts start or bulls start breaking tines so then they end up waiting until next summer.

Pretty sure a big old bull bit the dust yesterday.

Dude . . . Looking to be a year for the ages.

So is anyone actually looking for a guide in this thread or is this just a name dropping competition now?

Looking for a little help finding the bucks
Flatlander replied to broadhead's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I tend to find bucks on North slopes ore in thicker country than I find a lot of does in. Usually where I find lots of does and fawns I do not find many bucks. I also tend to find bucks earlier and later than I do does and fawns. Good luck, you will figure it out. -
backpacking tents.... what are you guys using?
Flatlander replied to 1denogean's topic in Other Hunting Gear
These days I use a coachmen Catalina. It sleeps 4 comfortable and 8 if you are in to trying new things. Little too warm for summer unless you plug it in and turn on the AC. Only weighs about 3.8k. -
There was a couple years ago everybody was posting bruisers from 37a. It's the new 7.

Or you could grow a pair and and buy what you want. I mean, that's what I would do if I had some.

Huh, never heard of it.

Here is my thoughts on the leftovers situation. 1. Leftover availability will dwindle until few if any remain and hunters will no longer be able to count on getting a leftover while building points for the North of the Ditch units. 2. Once this happens guys who are 3+ points off max will start to apply for the next level of hunts down causing significant point creep in the late muley hunts, 3a3c, and other hunts that are right now considered 1-2 steps behind the strip and kaibab. 3. Once guys start burning their points they will start applying for easier to draw hints as choices 3-5, further reducing the number of leftovers. 4. Once draw odds start to decline in those units more people will have to select whitetail hunts as choices 1-2 and you will begin to see hunts that used to be an easy draw every year hit the 50% draw level leaving some guys without a rifle option. 5. In order to meet hunter demand AZGFD will designate more archery units as draw only.

Daggum, 37b is the new 4b.

I have often heard an elk bugle back after hearing a large clap of thunder.

I don't have any points to burn, so what do I care. You guys that want the strip can bow hunt.

Worth it

There will be leftovers this year, but they day is approaching that all tags will be issued via the draw. They will post the leftover list once they post results for non-portal accounts.

Kind of sounds like a CWT vs the AZ all star guides match up is brewing . . .

Last year 15 made the bonus pass

Yeah, for sure. Gonzalez pass and the country near superior has sustained populations. I would imagine black mountain does as well.
