I haven't done tables to know exactly but on the cow hunt you are something around 1 in 3 and on the bull hunt 1 in 6.

Yes, AZ does separate NR odds now. I bet my left cajone that unit 1 archery jumps to 12 points next year. So yes, OP would have been 100% last year but may not be this year. Have you looked at the neighboring units? Because 11 pts should assure you a tag in 27 or 3B.

So here is the predicament I am in, I have enough points to draw almost any hunt other than the "premier" units. If I were to wait it out then it's at least for more years. So basically I can have one "average" archery tag and one "average" late rifle tag in the same period as I could have a "premier" archery tag. That's the conundrum.

Why did you change your picture thing? I didn't even recognize you. Change it back.

Btw I called Clay to see if I could help with the taxi bill and his response was "You're too late, someone already covered it!" People are awesome. Whoever you are, good on you. Not sure what's going on, think I got something in my eye, gotta go ...

Every group of deer we saw Saturday was a handful of does with a mature buck in it. Big swollen necks. It was awesome

Help needed IMMEDIATELY for Hunts for Heroes desert sheep hunt
Flatlander replied to Lv2hnt's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
It was awesome the way these guys jumped on an opportunity to help a deserving soldier. Major props to AZCoues, Wish2hunt, 1Denogean, CarpCody, Lv2Hnt and some others whose screen names I can't remember who were all part of putting this sheep on the ground. To everyone else who offered, was somewhere in the unit looking or doing anything else to help or provide gear or anything else, thanks. You guys are awesome. When the other hunter spent 13 days chasing this exact ram, it's hard not to believe that this was meant to be. Honestly, this is the best thing I have seen in hunting, probably ever. You guys are awesome. -
Yup

Muley's were full on rut mode last weekend. Saw 3 different groups of deer all with big mature bucks that had swollen necks. Almost made it happen on a nice 4 pt but alas, I suck again.

Help needed IMMEDIATELY for Hunts for Heroes desert sheep hunt
Flatlander replied to Lv2hnt's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Ok guys, Tom is up to his eyeballs in texts, phone calls and logistics. Between coordinating the hunter, the help, trying to figure out where the sheep are and the logistics of the operation he has been going 100 mph since he found out about this opportunity at 1:00 PM today. So here is what I know, the hunt will sort of center around Picketpost Mt. The hunter will be arriving mid day. So for tomorrow, if you want to help but haven't gotten direction go wherever you think or want tomorrow and rendezvous at the Picketpost mountain road between the 60 and the trailhead. There will be a camp set near the trailhead which will act as the hub for anyone who wants to come and help. As I said, Tom is trying to sort through all the details right now. So if you want to help, just come down and get involved. If you know where to look for sheep and want to head out on your own, go for it. If you have a mature ram in a stalkable location get in touch with the camp or Tom via his cell above. There are definitely enough sheep spread out over enough areas that all help is welcomed. Bring your glass, your own bedroll and a pair of boots. The response from this site has been amazing, I would expect nothing less. Let's get this done! -
Except that prior to the 2 bag limit, many hunts were undersubscribed and therefore went unfilled. I will say I think we have been seeing fewer in our unit since the change, nothing scientific, it just feels that way. Talking 36b where I saw you, or a different unit? That's the only time I ever hunted 36b and we didn't see one stinking pig.

Here we go again. Drama. Anyone see that thread about the Huns4Heroes sheep hunt? Let's turn this into a CWT affair.

Pretty cool pic with your killed holding it. Gives some perspective to that head.

That unit is tough. There are a lot more places to hide than you would think and surprisingly low densities of elk compared to other parts of AZ. Hunting there is the closest in AZ I have come to something comparable to my old ID hunting grounds. But it sure is beautiful.

Well everything bumps back a week this year because of the calendar. Archery always starts on the 37th Friday of the year I believe, last year that was very early in the calendar and now because the year starts on a Sunday, it's much later. Late rifle bull is the 49th Friday, which this year happens to be in December and next year will be Nov 30. Where thanksgiving falls is unrelated to the hunt. So the good thing is that all the early archery hunts are the latest they are going to be for 7 more years. The bad news is that our December archery season and December whitetail hunts will be shortened by almost a week.

That unit 22s Muzzleloader hunt should be interesting.

I was wondering how this turned out TJ. I understand the disappointment, but trust me it could be worse in WY. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/68996-wy-a-long-time-coming/?view=getnewpost

Enjoy your phone call this week!

Wish I could have been at this. Unfortunately I am currently trying not to die from the plague or aids or bronchitis or whatever is trying to kill me right now.
-
Well I don't see why anyone would say that's a hybrid. Unless it's because it looks exactly like a mule deer.
