I stabbed a man in the heart with a trident.

Well that escalated quickly . . .

I have always wanted a picture like that!

Well you can pretty much count this strategy out going forward. Once posted on a forum like this it's a searchable, archived document for all the world to see for eternity. For info this specific you might consider a PM in the future.

Sorry about the sideways pics, my iPhone posted them this way no matter how I rotate them on the phone.

Whats your issue with making a very small, insignificant fee for providing a service that benefits other people who are also trying to make money? I am happy to have people who are making money from hunting and fishing paying more of the cost to manage wildlife. Seems like a strange thing to be upset about. You don't think the 13.00 per app is enough? To manage hundreds of thousands of wildlife? Um... No. And it costs them money to pull the information, the guide stands to make money, so no I don't think the $13 app fee is enough. Personally it would tick me off if I as an applicant had to pay the operating costs to help supply a guide with information he needs to run his business. Why should I pay for that?

Seems like boning that sucker out could have saved you all a lot of work. Glad you got it done. If you text me pics I will post for you.

This thread has me cracking up. Everybody talking out of their arse. OP has got to have his head spinning by now with each post contradicting the previous and trying to do it in a more condescending and authoritative tone. Read the unit description on your tag. Then read the regs and find the same description with the same dates in the hunts available via the draw to everyone else (yours happens to be a limited opp. hunt). Then read the unit boundaries and notes in the regs. Everything you need to know is readily available. Honestly, I cannot believe people apply for tags they know nothing about. I wonder how many people pick up these leftovers, get confused and then never even go on the hunt. It's disappointing, because for the right guys, this is a decent hunt. Do your homework, scout, and have fun. And by the way, if you don't want to camp in the designated location on the ranch, just camp on the national forest, that is the southern boundary of the unit, or rent a cabin in starlight pines, or a hotel in Winslow. It's really not too bad if you just start reading the regs. I have hunted the unit and killed multiple elk in it.

I just don't see a scenario where this hunt lasts 5 or more days. I've had the archery tag in 19a and the muzzy tag next door in 19b. Spend your time scouting, meeting land owners and learning to judge goats.

Jones Wildlife Taxidermy did some awesome birds for my Uncle. He is on the site.

AES is a 501©3 Also try justserve.org, lots of local opportunities to jump in and do service locally on small or large scale.

I agree. That's why we are asking for pics of your bulls and not you 😀

As of 2015 numbers the only archery tags I will not be in the bonus pass for next year would be 23s, 23n, 21, 9, maybe 3c and 1. So at least I have plenty of time to plan.

Anyone have the stones to call the draw lady about leftovers today?
-
There was 1 bull tag. I don't even try for it, heck I was desperate to just have a tag. I immediately regret my draw strategy this year. Although I believe in the end it will be worth it, it's tough to know the next hunt is 18 months away.

Nothing for me either. Now reality has set in. Sucks.

Well I don't know about everyone else but I feel better knowing that. Thanks Heat. I don't have regs with me but aren't there 2 rifle hints on 19a. One north of 89a and one east of the power line road? Which one did you draw? Perkins place is north of 89a, and it sounds like Jeff's hunt was east of the power line road.

Game and Fish was 0 help when I had my antelope tag. Literally they sent me a link to the where to hunt section on the website. Of course, that did not have any contact info for landowners. Just google it, Perkins isn't that tough to get ahold of.

Perkins Ranch, I think Shane Perkins is the operator. Or walk in on the Deep Well, no need for permission.

I have 3 points in WY and am looking to go either this year or next depending on AZ elk results. I am eyeing unit 59 right now but am open to others. I would like to find a pretty buck but don't need another giant (yes that was a humble brag, could not help myself). I would like to get some doe tags for the wife and myself in the unit we hunt or units that are close by. Anyone else thinking about doing something similar? Or does anyone have any experience with unit 59 and what we could expect? Looking forward to getting after them again. I love hunting lope.

Congrats. I passed you as I headed down to Clear Creek this afternoon. I remember the FJ with the white roof. Welcome to the site, keep sharing and be sure to let us know how the turkey hint ends up.

I don't even know what to say when someone asks for a comment on 40 yrs of elk hunting. I am surprised to see all the comments about calling. Honestly for a first timer I would suggest just listening and getting in front of the elk. I really try not to tell elk I am there if I don't have to. But hey nobody ever confused me with an expert elk hunter.
