Why would anyone ever buy a bird dog? Just do what I did, get a brother in law who gets a bird dog. Then you lose a sister and gain a dog. Seriously though, Brittanys have lots of energy for being in the house all the time. If you get that kind of dog make sure you are committed to getting it the exercise it needs.

Okay folks its that time of year again. I am way behind on getting tables put together for the elk/antelope draw. So that we don't fall too far behind, I am going to start doing these as I complete each element. Right now I am ready to give rifle bull odds only, but will update when I am able to add other hunts. I hope to have it all this week. To look up your odds I will need the following info: Bonus Points, Unit, Dates, Weapon. If you want to provide hunt numbers, they must be 2015 hunt numbers. My inbox fills up fast this time of year so please post your questions in the thread. And, as always, if you draw a tag I would love to hear about it.

Ditto. Plus the snakes. My buddy had that hunt and said he saw more rattlers than he ever sees hunting August deer in the southern units. Had one coiled under his tent when he took it down. Eff that. That plus the stickers in the socks, who would ever endure such misery.

What did you end up doing?

Surprised no one has said 31/32 yet. That's a pretty crappy one, I knew a guy who had it once. He spent every evening for two weeks picking thorns out of his socks. Those rutting bucks would run all over the valley floor and he would just run around in his socks trying to get one to stand still.

The system should see the birthdate and allow me to put my daughter in for a point though. My daughter turns 10 in less than a month.Now we run the risk of her drawing a primo tag that someone else could have drawn. Sounds pretty risky. Maybe Game and Fish should come up with a way for people to turn their tag in for their points if they can't or don't want to use it.

2% on the ML hunt Last year 23 pts was 100% for unit 1 antelope. 12 guys with 22 pts did not draw so it could creep a point this year. If it does, you less than a 5% chance of drawing. my unit 1 app with 23pts this year...maybe just gets another BP. this is gettin' old fast. Thank You Flatlander! lee This is your year Lee! makes sense. that said, how does having a lot of bonus points help you get a low "random" number? because if it did, it wouldn't be random. I thought you got your name tossed in the hat again for every bonus point you have. while i'm not too particular about this elk hunt, i'll probably draw that late archery tag, though it would be nice to know i had at least a shot at the rifle tag. i'm not sure how to approach the draw with these 2 hunts in mind. it does make a difference to me for deer however. right now i'm banking points while i whack the first deer that walks in front of me during archery season. however, i would like to enter the draw when i i get 10 bonus points. (when i hit 10 points, i probly won't shoot a buck w/ my bow unless it's a monster) i think i have 7 right now. but i'm pretty set on 13b, unless the deer situation changes up there. So, how do i approach that? just put in 13b for my first choice and leave the rest blank? or put in for 13b on every choice? You can do either and it will have the exact same effect. However, if you are applying for 13b rifle it won't matter. You won't be anywhere near the bonus pass with 10 points.

The NR stuff is very hard to predict with the changes made. Basically for archery you will be one of 1490 total people competing for 8 non bonus pass NR tags, its a long shot but because of the changes this year, you are not mathematically eliminated. For the late rifle hunt you would have likely drawn it last year but this year with only 25 tags in the bonus pass you will probably have to wait for the 1-2 pass where you should have about a 24% chance. There is 0 chance of you drawing that late archery tag as a 3rd choice. Resident Archery - 12% Late Rifle - 35% Late Archery - 0%
