Saw this on Instagram...what’s your take?

That your unit shuts down earlier and that the success rate will look higher in reports. Pretty flimsy concerns if you ask me. And not any different than challenges with data we already rely on completely. All mandatory reporting does is increase the sample size of data that already gets gathered. -
Amazing. Congratulations!

Anyone know what AZGFD decided today at the commission meeting? -
I really like the ones I get from the dept. Not as thick and a lot easier to read. They started selling 22 tags in November.

This didn’t age well…

You ship?

Great, now everyone knows. Why do we have to put everything on social media?

UPDATE 9.24.21 Commission Meeting We need to tell AZGFD and the Commission to stop paying social media to expedite the loss of opportunity for AZ residents! Yesterday the department gave an update on the 2023 hunt guidelines. This much is clear, OTC archery deer hunting is likely to change or disappear in the near future unless something changes. Please make our voices heard by signing and sharing this petition. *** Since 2016 AZGFD has been paying influencers between $5k - $60k per year to promote a wide range of hunting opportunities in Arizona. This program has been very effective at increasing license sales among Non-Residents and increasing demand for previously under-subscribed hunts. A portion of this effort has been focused on OTC archery deer hunting. Promoting these specific opportunities has contributed to a rapid loss of opportunity in OTC hunts. Since this advertising campaign began Non-Resident license sales have increased dramatically while there has been a 25% decline in OTC opportunity. I am encouraging all AZ residents to sign the petition below and request that AZGFD cease their promotion of all hunts without a non-resident cap. I fear that if these opportunities are lost for residents in our state that we will quickly lose the interest of the public and become subject to a disinterested and disengaged electorate who will no longer support wildlife at the ballot box. It is critical that we maintain every opportunity possible for residents of this state to ensure this privilege exists for future generations. https://chng.it/62rjYqFMYp

I’m really confused about where this conversation went. But, the survey asks if you wounded and didn’t recover an animal. -

Many states require this to buy a license or tag the next year. It’s very effective and doesn’t cost the dept anything. -

Brian has done a heck of a lot more than send an email to get this considered. He has been pitching this idea, adapting and improving it for almost a year in an effort to try and preserve OTC opportunity in AZ. I am learning the hard way that sending a few emails is not an effective way to get anyone to listen to your ideas. Pretending Brian is getting some special treatment is just plain ignorant. Trust me, the dept (Amber Munig specifically) started giving the same nonsensical argument about barriers to participation etc. and Brian didn’t let it go. He took it to the commission, branch chiefs, critter groups, etc. There is no need for sour grapes. Mandatory reporting is good for wildlife management and we have been asking for it long enough. Let’s make sure everyone hears it this time. -
Kev isn’t wrong that there is a perception among much of the public that hunters are ignorant rednecks. It’s a stupid stereotype that isn’t any more accurate than pretending all inner-city youth are gang members or criminals. Neither of these is correct and the stereotype doesn’t help fix problems that either of them face nor does it value the good that they often bring. Like it or not, MeatEater pushed hunting towards mainstream. There are a litany of challenges that imposes on an extractive recreation like hunting, fishing, gathering, etc. How we manage that going forward is the million dollar question.

It’s the best proposal out there. Everyone should email the commission about this. -
Man, you guys are pretty passionate about running water. On that hunt last year we just didn’t use the fresh water tank and kept a gallon jug next to the sink and toilet. Who cares if your black tank freezes. It will thaw if you are headed to low elevations after the hunt. No extra propane, no skirts or aprons.

I wanted to share the letter that AZGFD sent me after I forwarded the results of the petition along with an explanation of why over 2,100 Arizonans asked them to stop paying influencers to promote big game hunting opportunities that do not have a non-resident cap (all otc hunts, antlerless and any elk permits and javelina). To me, it’s clear that the department got the message from the many public comments they received on the topic. Unfortunately much of the damage was done. However, I think it’s a good sign that we spoke up and AZGFD acknowledged our request and changed course. Thanks to everyone who signed. Mr. Gillett, I am responding to your email to the Arizona Game and Fish Department Director and Commissioners regarding the use of influencers in marketing big game tags nationwide. The Department has already stopped such activities in relation to big game hunting. These activities were stopped in part because of public input, but also because of declining big game populations as a result of drought and an increasing trend in participation assumed to be related to the covid pandemic and the new interest in outdoor activities such as hunting. As stated we have stopped using influencers to market big game hunts indefinitely, but we may consider implementing similar activities in the future should the trends change. The Department may also continue to employ these types of marketing efforts for small game hunting opportunities such as dove. If you'd like to discuss this further with the Commission, you may speak at any of our regularly scheduled Commission meetings during the Public Comments section, or during any specific agenda item. Thank you for your interest, if you have any questions or wish to discuss further please let me know. HEIDI RAYMENT | MARKETING BRANCH CHIEF ARIZONA GAME AND FISH DEPARTMENT

So…. Do we have any ground pics of these bucks?
-
Do you read tarot cards? Palms? You have me pegged. UA must be incredibly proud of you.
-
Probably a good idea. You might want to practice counting to 3 (as in tines) so you don’t get confused and shoot a spike. Meanwhile, folks with legitimate degrees can keep simultaneously elk hunting and discrediting Wildcats who think they can fill the empty void UA left in their souls and minds by trying to minimize their failures. Good luck, and remember, 1, 2, 3

Read the title of the thread. Come on man, try to keep up.

Classic leftist move… if you are on inferior intellectual ground and losing the argument, change the subject. Just to remind you what we are talking about here… 2021 ASU 38 - 15 2020 ASU 70 - 7 2019 ASU 24 - 14 2018 ASU 41 - 40 2017 ASU 42 - 30 No matter how pathetic the team from North Nogales becomes, it’s still a pleasure stomping them in the ground.
-
Dustin epitomizes the desperation of UA fans to stay relevant when compared to ASU. After going on the worst losing streak of any major sports team in AZ (worse than the suns and d backs which have been historically awful at times) he decides that because ASU lost 4 games total in a year, UA is successful. This is typical of losers and liberals throughout the world who are too insecure to look themselves in the mirror and face their failures and instead spend their lives justifying their shortcomings and making excuses about the success of others. Now, can I get those fries please?

My guess is you could walk that entire unit in 1-1/2 days. If there is no sign, they probably aren’t there. -
They only show leftover permits issued in the portal. The application won’t be listed there.
