Compact Rifle . . .Which one?
Flatlander replied to Flatlander's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
The only issue I have with the Model 7 or other "compact" rifles is that the length of pull is the same, and this is one of the primary reasons for getting her own rifle. The Savages other than the Axis do not appear to be offered in 7mm-08. -
Get your hands on some pictures of a commissioners wife . . . That's how my buddy got the Unit 9 Muzzy hunt moved.

I have been applying for one archery bull hunt for a decade. After reviewing 2014 draw reports I concluded that I would not make the bonus pass this year and elected to apply with a buddy who had fewer points. I looked at the 2015 draw reports today and guess what, if I had applied alone I would have made the bonus pass. What a bone headed move!!! Agghhhh! With all the data I look it I should have known better than to do that so close to the bonus pass. Sometimes I think I out think myself. Oh well, good news is guess who is going elk hunting next year?!

Sorry, fixed it.

Compact Rifle . . .Which one?
Flatlander replied to Flatlander's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I would not say that I am not willing to look at other compact Savage or Ruger's, but I had a hard time finding other model's in 7mm-08 that were youth/ladies models. I took a look at the Marlin X7 as suggested by Creed, hmm, the reading is very favorable for that rifle, but they seem all but impossible to find anywhere but gunbroker. The advantage of the adjustable trigger with the savage bolt nut design is pretty appealing. From the groups people have posted on other forums, I must say I am impressed. Who do you guys that buy off of gunbroker use for your FFL? -
I used to live in Rexburg. Which unit are you in?

1:51:00 on my half marathon time. That's 10 minutes faster than last time. Felt great, and the weather ended up being perfect.

Tomorrow is race day.

No I blew it. I applied with my buddy for the same hunt I have applied for the last 10 years. Had we applied separately I would have been one of a handful in the bonus pass. The system is pretty simple once you get a grasp on it, but it can be unpredictable. Mule Packer, I will let you know where to be after the 2016 draw, since posting now might sway those odds back out of reach. But rest assured, mules will be a handy resource on this one.

Cody thanks for sharing, I have seen how devastating infertility can be. I don't know anything about adoption, but I wish you the best of luck and hope the process of raising children can one day bless your life.

What are the dates of your flights?

Apparently all I needed to do was mention 22 ammo in front of my uncles. One gave me 100 rds of mini mag last night, the other one handed me an unopened brick of federal copper tipped hollow points today. I am coming home with more ammunition than I have seen on any store shelves in years.
-
I am in Helena, MT this week and decided to look around for some 22 lr since that has become a favorite pastime for me. Went to 3 stores, all of them had it in stock. Prices were 7.99 for a box of 50 Remington Golden Bullett; 17.99 for 325 federal 40 gr match grade, $35 500 rington thunderbolt, $12 for 100 Norma copper tipped. I bought a box of federal match grade. No one was waiting at the door for a delivery, there was plenty in stock but as you can see the selection was pretty limited. My uncle said this is the least selection he has seen all year. Since gofer and rock chuck season just kicked off, that makes sense. This experience makes me think the problem has more to do with greedy AZ ammo hoarders than it does with conspiracies or anything else. For example I have a friend with over 1,000 rds in his safe and he doesn't even own a .22, just bought it cause he found it. What an idiotic mentality, that I feel explains the shortage perfectly.

PP have no impact on 2nd choice in WY.

Where is your half? Doing the Yellowstone Half Marathon June 13th. The course doesn't look too bad with just one 200+ ft climb in mile 6, otherwise pretty flat. It should be really scenic, just a few miles of pavement running and the rest on dirt roads and trails in the woods. I hope I don't need my bear spray!!! That is awesome! I am in that part of the country right now and the training runs have been amazing. The scenery is beautiful, I see elk and deer during my runs, it's basically heaven. Good luck, that may be one I look into in the future.

My condolences Amanda. I can't imagine ne your pain right now.

I wouldn't be so sure. You could also stay on 40 and keep coming a bit West to hunt 4b in the cedars.
