Did not weigh in this week. Ran Pat's Run Saturday and never made it to the gym. Ran 5 this AM at a 7:52 pace. Signed up for a half marathon in 3 weeks, hopefully it doesn't get too hot.

Nope, lost my tag and the goat got donated to a food kitchen. It sucked, but it was better for me than it was for the antelope.

Does it actually show up on your background checks? I have a G&F conviction from when I was 18 that I used to list on all those applications, but when I listed it on my college application the school called me and asked about the circumstances and told me the conviction did not show up on the background check they did. After that I quit listing it and it has never come up since. In the interest of full transparency, my conviction was for harvesting a buck antelope with horns shorter than the ears. I had an archery lope tag and was sitting water, a buck and three does came in, and I waited for the does to clear before shooting at the buck. My arrow clipped the cloth on the side of the blind and sailed over the bucks back and hit a fawn that was standing immediately behind him. Neither my dad who was with me or I had any idea that fawn was there. It hit him with a perfect double lung shot, he died right there on the spot. I called G&F, self reported, plead guilty in court and paid a $100 fine. They were extremely reasonable with me, the officer even wrote some favorable notes on the citation for the judge to reference when sentencing. The judge laughed when he read the charge, gave me the minimum fine and we moved on with our lives.

6:22 is seriously moving, nice work. I have been trying to get mine under 6:00 and its a terrible goal, I hate running the mile. I would rather run ten, than 1 for speed.

Which hunt did you get?

Of course there is a difference between a limited opp hunt and a general hunt. But the Hopi tag is no different than whatever limited opp or general hunt it corresponds with. I've had the sunset pass tag before, it went fine. I killed by 8:00 AM opening day. I scouted half a day. I hunt the same areas for the limited opp hunt as I do for Nov bull.

They are out all the time.

I know you get it, was mostly referring to some of the other comments in here. I guess there will always be something in the regs folks discover for the first time. Happens to me every year. Don't mind my sour grapes.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that there is no difference between Hopi tags and regular tags? It's the same freaking hunt. It's been like 5 years since they implemented these hunts.

More of the same for me. No elk tag. I seem to be particularly bitter this year.

The number of applicants is important if the hunt has a low number of tags i.e. < 40. The only thing I ask in return is that you let me know if you are successful in drawing a tag and if the information was helpful. Keep in mind the following information; I produce everything by hand, and therefore errors may occur, if you notice one or think that I may have made one please send me a PM. Odds are based on last years data, and therefore information is not available for new hunts, but I will be happy to tell you what I think are my best guess. Also, application trends change every year, so just because I tell you that you would have been 100% last year does not mean that will be true this year. Please don't mail me your fingernail clippings if this happens. Please be specific in your requests, if you ask what elk hunt I think is best with 2 bonus points I will tell you Unit 42 Late Archery. With 4 pts you can draw some really good units. Some with a high chance at an 80+ Buck. I am hopeful, I will be going with the goal of topping my AZ muzzleloader buck. 😃

Your 8 and my 4 in 2016 could make for a good hunt

Will be a 2016 trip for me. With 4 points in that draw I ought to have some good units to pick from, just not the red dessert.

I'm with blaze, those are likely to lead to more "whipping it out" than panty dropping.

There are bucks to be had right there pretty much year round, as long as you don't mind highway 89 in your trophy pics.

Didn't you guys hear, every bull in 9 is going to get killed during that early muzzleloader hunt they have.
